Cedar Point's Raptor

OK, be kind... this is my first attempt here. CP's Raptor. The lift structure was kind of a pain, but it's got everything there. The cobra and zero-G rolls are a little rough, and overall the track is about 350 feet short if indeed the scale is accurate in the game. I think it might be, because the speed in the second half is a little high, especially as it dives into the second corkscrew.

Have fun!

Nice job, Jeff.  From what I can remember from my one and only ride, it is pretty accurate.  Maybe you could add a trim before the corkscrews?  I JUST got the game, (like 10 minutes ago) so I am still figuring out the editor.

Jeff way to go,  That's pretty darn accurate.  I'm still putting in supports for my first floorless.

That is awesome! I can't really make a difference between that and the real thing!

I'm only half way done with my Corkscrew rendering. I'm having trouble with the corkscrews.

Just use the corkscrew element (file | insert element | corkscrew) to create the corkscrews. It's much faster and easier than trying to create your own from scratch.

Very good for your first attempt Jeff. I especially like the 'egg-shaped' loop. ;)

I'm having too much fun riding & flying around the coasters - haven't learnt to build my own yet.

Jeff, that is really good. The only thing I don't get is why didn't you just use his inversions? They are easier and more reaslistic. I am helpless with supports and blocks/brakes. I haven't tried my 1st coaster yet. I have to do some dumb homework now, so I can't yet. Good Raptor!

The stock inversions didn't look right, even while playing with them. It made more sense to do them from scratch.

I just made Demon and Batman. Demon is pretty accurate, it was easy. It's a bit too tall though. On Batman, I made it too small. It only goes 40 mph and the inversions run into each other. Batman has no supports. I will re-do Batman tomorrow. My Demon is cool. It is impossible to control the G's on these things!

I've recreated a few coasters and the only real problems I have are some of the inverted inversions.

For example, the normal corkscrew does not look like the B&M flatspin. I ended up modifying a stock 0-g roll to do it for Raptor.

Also, the 0-g roll itself doesn't look good on the inverteds, so I created one of those for myself.

Very nice, Jeff.
A little fast on the second half, like you said. it hit  about 6 G's on final helix. I have over 100 rides on Raptor (thanks to ERT at Coastermania), and this is a very good recreation. What are you going to work on next?

Working on Millennium Force. It's not easy to create all of those smooth curves without the use of the computer doing perfectly smooth circles for you, that's for sure.

Millennium Force is already on the full version of the game, why are you doing that one?

Someone should do Magnum. Someone already posted a "Magnum" to screamachines, but it was not very realistic.

I am working on Colossus at SFMM, you heard me, Colossus. It actually is starting to look like a woodie, with enough custom supports! The tricky part will be the dual tracks, but I have an idea.

He's probably working on MF because the one that comes with the game is a terrible recreation!   The first overbank is way too tall and the next hill is way too short.  Also, the bunny hop by the station is way too big (looks like they used the supplied camel-back) and it won't run three trains properly.

I've been working on Magnum, but its really difficult to get it working realistically with three trains with the blocking set up the way it is.

No kidding Jeff. I so far have spent about 12 hours total on Millennium Force, and just now got it smoothed out. Getting those curves to come out perfectly is a pain. Most of that time has been working on getting the supports perfect . I'm salivating over the lift structure. :)

Also there seems to be to much friction, or the game is so real that it thinks the train is empty. I made it the full 6595 feet and it nearly stalls out in the final overbank so i had to cut it short about 250 feet.

MF has perfect circles on the 2D top view. every turn is a continuous radius. the challenge is that the elevation appears to be perfect arcs as well with a fixed radius.

I actually got the last turn nearly perfect. The tough part is that the hops to and from the island are at an angle from straight "north-south," so it was a toss up to do that straight or the lift and stations straight.

Jeff, you could try making a section aligned with the grid, save it as a pre-fab and then place it. Might be more trouble than its worth though. Just a thought.
