Cedar Point's Ocean Motion - and Nudity...

I stopped at CP to ride Ocean Motion before it is sent on it's way to a boneyard, and noticed a possible reason Dick is removing it.

All six of the Mermaids were bare breasted with nipples in full show... (that's right, no pasties!) Two on each end, and one on either side of the mast - facing riders from all angles...

Not to get us off on a breastfeeding rant, but I wonder if Dick found it Non "family friendly"? We saw the demise of our lovely Schwabinchen girl go the same way several years ago, and while many say it was due to the scarcity of parts, I have to conclude she was showing a bit too much cleavage.

With this rides proximity to planet snoopy, I couldn't help but consider this.

I highley doubt it. The ride has been around for 20 years. Why would he just now be offended by the boobs?

And if he was, I am sure they would have just removed them like they have with most of the other theaming they have removed from the park over the years.

Yeah. If I owned a perfectly good ride, except that the facade was perhaps offending some uptight family whiner, I'm sure that it would be simple enough to take the facade off, or lace a cover over the offending area of the facade, or whatever.

...which is exactly what KI did to their swinging ship about 5 years ago. They covered the boobs.

I won't support public breastfeeding until all the breasts are freed!!

At least it doesn't seem to get particularly cold over in that part of the park...

Pagoda, I thought that "cover up" was mentioned around here a while back. I asked my KI VIP tour guide about it on Saturday while I waited to board the ride, and he really didn't know anything about it.

I'm not sure the one over her lower body was always there or not. I can't find the discussion (or even remember where I read it) but it was surprising at the time that the censorship did not happen at CP as well.

They put a gown over their breasts. It looks like it was done in a very professional way. One would imagine paint slopped over it or something, but it looks a lot better than that.

They should have gave her a water bra.:)

Cedar Point is going to remove a ride that has been baring its breasts for 20 years because someone might find the aforementioned breasts to be offensive???

This in a park that already contains at least five steel phalluses from 200-500 feet tall, and is about to add another 300 footer...

(let's just hope the figureheads on Ocean Motion aren't all that's keeping keeping Wicked Twister from falling over...)

I never notice these things until someone mentions it. I didn't realize the mermaids were half nude. ;)

We live in the land of the easily offended, so I wouldn't be surprised if one person made a fuss about nothing. It happens everyday.

Well an upcoming weekend is "PointFest" I'm sure the religious folks might take some offense - perhaps they should rope off the area and post signs...

Hehe, well it is already scheduled for removal, so I'm not sure how offended someone can be at this point.
