Cedar Points "new" ad campaign

Came across this on the top of the Cedar Point page. Its three videos that come up randomly. Not sure if they've been brought up already, but:

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/video/formatchooser.cfm?vid=2

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/video/formatchooser.cfm?vid=3

You have to admit, I think all of us know someone that is like the people in the 2nd and 3rd videos!

"On the moon nerds get their pants pulled down and spanked with moonrocks."

I enjoyed these, but hopefully the complete ad campaign goes beyond coasters.

Have these appeared in the Cleveland and/or Detroit markets yet?

To answers Chris' question, I think those three people are CBuzz regulars.

It seemed like the second two were reading a script.

Down is the new up.

Worst spots ever, in my opinion. But the video encoding is fabulous.

I thought they were hilarious, and they really show how geeky enthusiasts can be...er.. are.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

I thought all three were reading a script. ;-) Awesome POV's!

Can't wait till May 8th!

We've been seeing a 30-second spot down here (Columbus area), touting the resort as a whole for the entire family. Well-balanced and well done, especially compared to these cornball spots.

I don't think they're very effective, but they are cute in their own quirky way I s'pose. :)

I don't think they're awful. They threw in coaster geek speak - that's either giving the average person a bunch of credit or aiming these ads at a very specific demographic.

Hey! I am the chick in the second video.

Hmmm...Sorensen Video 3, 116Kb/sec data rate. Blow that much bandwidth and it had better look good!

(My Dragster video is about 78Kb/sec, but with an MPEG-4 variant codec)

Floater airtime? Where??

Overall I think the ads are crappy, but I like the MF and Dragster footage.

At least we don't have to head the dogamned Vengaboys song again ;)
I would rather see the old guy do the "running man" dance than watch these CP vids again.\

Horrible.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

kind of disapointing. But the video quality is top notch for web.

Guess who's back? Back Again? James K's back. Tell a friend.

They had some great shots of TTD; you can see how tall it really is. I think it’s directed more at coaster enthusiast and pumping up regular people. That chick in second video was cute.. I hope these are combined with more footage so the "whole package" when aired will be directed at the whole family. But I think they’re different and quite interesting.
Well I just think the actors were terrible. A good idea, if tweeked a bit. I just haven't seen acting that bad since. . . well since the last time I watched a soap opera.

THE SCARIEST PART OF THE RIDE IS THE LIFT HILL!
Heh, I thought they were pretty good. First one's definitely my favorite, people could definitely identify with that. I think people would remember the third one though the most just because hearing someone say "Maggie" and "Millie" is probably one of those things that makes you do a double-take and go "huh?" if it comes up during the commercial break on whatever you're watching (if you've never heard it before).

I find it interesting that they buy Geauga Lake and stress it's "family friendly" atmosphere, and then their new Point commercials come out stressing the coasters ... not really insiuating anything, just observing ;)

I love how people don't like the acting - the idea is not to have professional actors, it's supposed to be like catching some guy in the park and asking him what he thinks (for 1 and 2). I give 1 and 3 a positive review!

Get rid of the kids and the talking and the music and they would be great.

Right Dave... because those crazy movie studios that use the same on their trailers couldn't possibly have the right idea for quality using a codec that every QuickTime user has already.

The worst is the guy in the "first name" spot. I swear he's in more dire need of hookers and beer than most enthusiasts I've met. I hope he is an actor.

Sure, but only the first guy comes across as even remotely genuine. The other two are clearly actors poorly playing "some guy in the park."

Overall, I thought they sucked. The first one was not horrible. The other two were.

I think the point (no pun intended) here was just to show how excited people get. They are annoying by design. If the first guy were within 100 feet of me, I would walk away.

But if they were not effective in some way, we would not be talking about them. I don't recall (save the SEARCH lecture please) forum discussions about the latest PKI or Kennywood advertisements.

Scripts, you think? I though people in commericials really felt the way they acted. I am crushed. And to think I really believed that guy in the Enzyte ad got a bigger unit.

Gonch, unless you've changed quite a bit from your photo, I think you should go back to brooding Gen-X look. Spastic Coaster Geek doesn't fit you.
