I have never seen coaster enthusiasts so excited for the REMOVAL of a coaster before.

I was WAY excited about the removal of Son of Beast. I can take or leave Mean Streak. I did get a really passionate kiss on the ride once. That was nice. Also, one of my old friends used to call it "Firetrap" instead of it's real name, and he would scream on it, "IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT?" because it beat him up so badly. LOL

I always liked it to a point. I could really only tolerate it a few times, but I loved how long it was. Walking all the way to it and maybe standing in line for a little bit always seemed worth it. Going through all the trouble to get a ride on it gave you a long, although bumpy, ride.

I won't give it any hate, nor will I celebrate its closure. I will celebrate its redesign though. I'm sure whatever they do to it will be amazing. This rumor has been floating around for a while now. I'm not surprised at all.

The marking of supports tells us just about what kind of overhaul we can expect.

The trick was to surrender to the flow.

THANK GOD.

It's always been a rough and extremely hated/unpopular ride, so I'm glad it's getting the boot. Still tho, I'll kinda miss in a weird way, for it's always been there when I've visited CP, and it'll be a bit weird to not have it there. I will be taking my last rides in two weeks.

So there are three somewhat possible options for the site

A. GCI Redo

B. RMC Redo

C. Intamin Prefab

D. Completely new ride

I don't think A will happen for a few reasons. First, they wouldn't make as big of a deal about it if it was just a GCI retrack. They would have announced it, yes, but I don't think they would have made a fully dedicated video to announce it.

Another reason is the crazy guy with the axe. Not only is that maybe a peak at the theme of the new ride or RMC reboot, but he's also targeting the supports. Why would you do that for simply a retrack? Also, I don't see how GCI could redo the ride and give it that GCI experience.

Another option that came up is Intamin retracking the ride to make it a prefab. While in concept, this seem like a good and fitting idea, and TBH it would be really cool, I don't think it's going to happen. First, Cedar Fair hasn't had any relations with Intamin since 2010, and Intamin hasn't built a coaster in America since Skyrush in 2012. Second, The last prefab to be built is T Express, which was built in 2008, so it wouldn't be very logical for them to out of nowhere do another one. Third, All prefabs are completely original, so them coming out of the blue to do a prefab retrack would be even more strange. Even if they came and made a new, original prefab, I still am highly doubtful because of Intamins recent history with Cedar Fair and America in general.

In my opinion, it's either a RMC or completely new ride. I highly doubt it's a new ride since they just got Valravn this year, but then again it wouldn't be as shocking of a revelation as some might think. 1999-2003 is proof, as in 1999, a year before Millennium Force, they added Woodstock Express, a Vekoma kiddie coaster. In 2002, a year before Top Thrill Dragster, they added Wicked Twister, a Intamin Inverted Impulse.

If they were to add something new, in my opinion, it should be a B&M Flyer. It can be the tallest, fastest, and longest one, as well as the one with the most inversions, and it can finally have some Lake Erie interaction.

But I'm leaning more towards a RMC reboot. It's actually pretty possible actually. For example, an LA Times article about the GhostRider reboot at Knotts stated

"Knott’s considered bids from Rocky Mountain and Great Coasters International and decided to go with GCI in part to maintain GhostRider’s traditional wooden coaster feel that fits so well with the Ghost Town theme of the area surrounding the ride."

Cedar Fair has had talks with RMC, and I think they are eyeing for this to be the first ride from them they purchase. They aren't that expensive, which would help after Valravn, they are among the best the industry has today, and this would also severely boost attendance and might be there first best new ride award since Maverick in 2007. Proof in this is the conversations with people I know, who say that if it happens, they will visit and maybe consider a season pass purchase. It makes a lot of sense in every way , from a business standpoint and from what teasing they've done.

So I'm putting my money on an RMC reboot.

I think what you meant to say was...

"I started a stupid petition".

There are already too many silly on-line petitions. Given the problems in today's complex world, we should be concentrating on the important issues.... like finally getting Vater a goddam bran muffin.

As far as Mean Streak goes, let me be the first to add:
Taer 'er down!!11!!

It's seems logical fir a track conversion given Texas Giant.

The bad thing is that this year it was riding better than ever and it was a ride you could always get on quickly on bust days.

Whatever happens there will have one of those long hot boring torturous Cedar Point lines!

Mean Streak - R.I.P. 1991-2016

Say what you will about the old fella, but I enjoyed the ride. It certainly isnt as venerable or popular as El Toro, The Voyage, The Beast, but it was still something I looked forward to riding every time I visited Cedar Point. I would love to see an RMC face lift on it and see it have new life breathed into it. If any wooden coaster needs to be demolished its that wretched Great American Scream Machine at SFOG! THAT thing bruised my ribs a few years back. Have not ridden it since. Anyway, all we can do is wait patiently to see what develops.

Are you MAN ENOUGH to ride this ride ?

This coaster was assembled in 1991, the same year I married my wife, 25 years ago.

Wonder if it's too late to have her Topper Tracked too? 😆

So many funny, but totally inappropriate comments running through my head right now.

Must...resist...temptation.

I doubt they would have gci retrack it as they would be in the same position they are now with high maintenance costs. The one thing about rmc is no more retracking which saves parks millions over the years. I don't get why parks like holiday world keep spending tons of money to keep retracking voyage every year when topper track is final. There's no doubt if rmc remakes meanstreak it will be the best coaster in the park.

Sad to see her go, for some reason I enjoyed riding Mean Streak (kind of a test of physical endurance) but I totally understand most people's aversion to it. I am hoping for an RMC conversion. This would have to be the #1 coaster in their collection that Cedar Fair would do. I actually think the existing structure has some great elements they could use - the first 2 high turns could be over banked, and the brake run could be a great place for an inversion. I was also thinking they could elevate and move the station over by Maverick and have the ride cross over the railroad.

Everyone thinks that RMC are the end all be all of costers. As fare as design go's yes there one of the best. BUT there trains are not made in house. There using premier train on storm chaser which are European and have all of problems in regard too individuals of large size. Not fat large size. And the trains have computers on them witch slows down loading. All the time me and my friend were at KK we did not see one load and go. In other words the trains need a lot of improvement to be ready for CP

I don't get what this means. Do you mean it didn't launch within a short amount of time after loading? Or the ride was down the entire time you were there because of the train's computers?

People get in put the restraint down and go. That is a load and go. No rechecks, no delays. No green light on the first go.
