During a ceremony today at Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort, Amusement Today announced its annual Golden Ticket Awards with a few surprising new winners among traditional repeaters. The awards, based on surveys submitted by well-traveled park enthusiasts around the world, honor the top parks and rides as well as cleanest, friendliest and most efficient operations. Cedar Point retained its position as best park while Six Flags New England's Superman edged out Millennium Force for best steel coaster.

Joe, who laughs how every year this poll comes out there are people saying the same things over and over.

You suck big time.
Besides that, I would like to say Im glad Texas Cyclone is in the top 25 wooden coasters. It is finally seen for what it's worth!

Cedar Point countdown: 28 Days.
Notice how EGF jumped quite rapidly inspite of being around for a number of years. Ace's ECO comes to mind as a reason why that might be.
If you want to see (and particpate in) a poll that eliminates that bias, check out Mitch Hawker's.

Screechin' Eagle, which isn't even operating this season, placed higher (at #40) than Mean Streak (#49). To add insult to injury Screechin' Eagle is 53 years older than the Mistake on the Lake.
Let's throw out some of the "more people rode it, so it rated on the list" crap with this example. How many people actually have ridden Screechin' Eagle? Now, how many people have actually ridden Mean Streak? Compare their spots on The List.
Just because your favorite ride didn't rate where you thought it should doesn't mean that the poll is fixed. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that everyone else in the world has the same one.

(I like Mean Streak, though. Really.)

it has the best airtime, a unique feel, and a VERY unique train. a group of us buzzers left pki for a few hours to go ride it together at the 2002 coasterbuzz con and we were all blown away i think. i was surprised honestly that it was not ranked higher.
screechin eagle is the best standup coaster in ohio. ;-)

seek first to understand
then to be understood
And that coasters like MS just made it on the list because people have actually ridden it, instead of a good ride in a remote part of the world.
I say sever the list off at 25, because it's getting a little too easy to be considered a world class coaster

I AM CANADIAN
(Okay, I know, wrong Superhero reference, but...)
Superman ROS at SFNE is number one while Superman ROS at Darien is number 9???
Aren't they indentical?
What's up? Was the sky bluer, were the lines shorter?
This is a serious question, as I have nothing invested in either (except that I rode the Darien version) (and loved it too!)
Wouldn't it be a tie? Or does it have to do with fewer visits to the number 9 ranker?
Please....take the time to respond...I am facinated.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?
Thanks for the reply-
I guess the fact that they are listed as having the exact same height, exact same length in the stats threw me. (And the fact that Six Flags seems to replicate)
But that's great to know....I am glad I was wrong.....I have yet to ride the best.
I can't wait.
I'll go tomorrow
Thanks for the post!
