Cedar Point opening Quaker Steak & Lube next to Castaway Bay

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Point, already known for great wings thanks to its ultra-popular GateKeeper wing coaster, will be home to wings of the edible kind when the park opens a new Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant in 2015. The new restaurant will be located adjacent to Castaway Bay indoor waterpark/resort, and is scheduled to open in May, 2015.

Now, if we could only get one here in Columbus...

Eat'n'Park has been in NEO for at least 20 years. Or at least in Medina.

Sheetz has crept all the way down to NC (making family visits somewhat more pleasant). I was hoping Santa would get them to come all the way to FL. ;-P

Eating at a gas station makes family visits more enjoyable?

When it's Sheetz...yes.

I was so happy when they opened a Sheetz in my town just after moving south.

As for Quaker Steak, there's one by Concord Mills just north of Charlotte. I've are there once in 5 years.

Yeah. When I moved to WV, I missed Sheetz so much. I was thrilled when they started building them in my area. Day after tomorrow, I am moving back up to the Altoona PA area, where Sheetz began.

There is nothing like Sheetz. Their food has gotten kind of expensive, but it is really good. I don't mind paying more for food that is good. Their Fries are still my favorite ever.

"Good food at a gas station?" I still hear that a lot.

Sheetz? No way. Wawa all the way.

Are the QSAL chairs made by Intamin? I just hear "catastrophic failure" and....

Having *my* sub and an ice cold fountain drink, filling up the tank and relieving the bladder, right off the Interstate...certainly better than having t make multiple stops and still not getting food I want (like the old days). Eastern North Carolina between I-95 and the coast is pretty much a wasteland (no offense to Petey Pirate and ECU).

Wawa isn't bad but they do t have the selection Sheetz has.

I visited Wawa in Wildwood recently. I went to the touch screen to get a sandwich. I started choosing, taping the screen. Then I noticed something. It was not tallying up a total for me like the Sheetz system does. I looked around and could not find the prices for the food. I asked the lady making the food if there was a price list anywhere. She said no, and politely told me that I would know how much it cost when it was rung up at the checkout. I had a small conversation with her to clarify that she knew what I was asking and to make sure I understood her answer.

And then I decided to go to the McDonald's down the road instead.

I had the money, however much it was going to cost. I expected it to be pricy, because, Wildwood. I normally don't have someone make me food without them telling me how much it's going to cost first, I suppose.

I did have a sub from Wawa once though, and it was pretty good. I wonder if it's like that at every Wawa. I can't remember.

Ugh, yeah, that's like the people down here with Wawa. Seriously? It's an f'ing gas station. Gross.

Exactly.

Eat 'n Park has been in northeast Ohio for at least 30 years. The one in Boardman on Rt. 7 has been in business since the early 1980s.

Wawa FTW... I prefer them over Sheetz, for sure... Which sucks, because the nearest Wawa is hours away.

Although I will admit, the Giant Eagle Get-Go Kitchen stations that are in Cleveland are really darn close... Wawa still has the edge though, Sheetz is in last place for me (out of those three).

I make sure to hit up Wawa anytime we are down in Orlando or in PA, love it!

Question... How does food being served in a gas station make something "gross"? That generalization is a bit silly.

I always thought Sheetz was named after the condition its food gave those who ate it.

Sheetz is not just an "effin gas station". They focus more on their food than most fast food and have actually opened food only shops in malls.

Food is where they make their money and they know that. They even have/had coffe only concept shops.

The food may not be the best, but I don't think Sheetz is hurting. I was out in Altoona for work and met one of the locals who knew the Sheetz brothers. He told me the story from many years ago how those two were going to open a gas station, but customers would also be able to order sandwiches along with other select services. Everyone thought they were crazy and it would never work.

Sheetz or Wawa, whatever, the food sucks. If I wanted to eat while sucking gas fumes, well, I would never want to do that.
