Cedar Point opening Quaker Steak & Lube next to Castaway Bay

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Point, already known for great wings thanks to its ultra-popular GateKeeper wing coaster, will be home to wings of the edible kind when the park opens a new Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant in 2015. The new restaurant will be located adjacent to Castaway Bay indoor waterpark/resort, and is scheduled to open in May, 2015.

I dont understand the fuss about Chet and Matts. It was just ok for me.Now if you want really great pizza,NYC is where its at.

The only Quaker Steak and Lube I will eat at anymore is the original up in Sharon Pa.

While I can agree that the best pizza in the country is in NYC - I don't think that's an option for people eating lunch in the Sandusky, OH area.

I mean, I guess they could fly out for the day, but the only flights I know of from Sandusky are to Cuyahoga Falls.

You have good and bad pizza in NYC, just like everywhere else. Both Chet & Matts and Cameo in Sandusky are great and rival the best pizza anywhere.

As far as Sheetz, I really like it! When traveling by car, I'll always go there if one is available when I'm ready for a food break. Think of it more as a restaurant that also happens to sell gas. Just like Giant Eagle is a supper market that also happens to sell gas.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I dig Shmuffins. Good stuff. Wawa has pretty decent food, too, but I stopped going there because they don't have 93 octane gas.

Bran Schmuffins?

Those need to be added to their menu, stat.

I know in the summer at our QS&L they have bike rallies once a week and it's a big time. Maybe every location caters to the bikers, I don't know, but maybe something like that can take place at the Sandusky location.

I'm thinking at the very least, something during Ohio Bike Week. Which could make it even more important than ever to book a hotel early for CoasterMania weekend.

John Stewart on how you know New York pizza is better: "In Chicago, they call it Chicago Style Pizza. In New York, we just call it pizza."

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Chicago and New York both get it wrong.

Gotta go with the Columbus-style pizza. Crisp, thin crust, not that wussy New York stuff. I'm not a huge fan of our propensity to cut it into "squares" but you take the bad with the good... Donato's is okay, and is representational of the style, but I kind of prefer Rubino's or Dante's or Pizza House, now that Rofini's is gone.

Worst major city for pizza in America, though, has to be Los Angeles. They have no idea what a good pizza tastes like out there.

I think there's a bigger west coast problem with pizza. There were few we liked in Seattle. It's worth mentioning, however, that there's an awesome place opened by a New Yorker on Whidbey Island in Langley. That pizza will change your life.

Nailed it on the head Dave. Lived on the left coast for forty years now, and it's sickening what they sell as pizza. More so is the fact that the people still consume it without question. Everytime we find a place that has some that resembles East Coast pie, they change cooks, the recipes change and it winds up being an over sized tostada.

And in Philly, they just call it Cheesesteak. And in Buffalo, they just call 'em Wings. And in Cleveland, they just call 'em Steamers. The list goes on...

The John Stewart piece was entertaining, and as this entire thread has proved, tastes are subjective. I'll admit, I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, so of course I'm biased. But NY has great pizza too. It's all good.

Pizza is like sex, even if it's bad... it's still good. (except Donimo's, that $#!t's NASTY!)

Living in Cleveland for my first 37 years, I've never heard "steamers." And I worked a grill where I made "Philly cheese steak."

Oh, I think if you read that again you'll realize that you have heard of the Cleveland Steamer.

Jeff's avatar

I was making a grammatical joke, but I still don't know what a steamer is.

I can swallow Domino's .... it's Little Caesar's that's a pizza too far for me.
