Cedar Point (not) announces TTD downtime

So the sled right now is resting on nylon strips that run the full length of the launch?

Do you think they will keep the nylon, and have the wheels rest on it, or just get rid of the nylon all together?

Now tell me Cedar Point is running out of space.

Are there any other coasters you guys can talk about, everyone knows that TTD has issues and probably nevere should have been made! ther I said I feel much better now
They added an extra row easy enough.

If given the choice I'd choose a hamburger over a hotdog anyday of the week.

Regarding the cooling system, wasn't the econo-version that was installed initially the result of one of Cedar Point's cost cutting measures? Seems a bit like deck chairs on the Titanic in regard to total cost. Don't know if it's true or not.

Anyway, though Cedar Point's nowhere in my near future, I've learned a lesson. I think I've learned not to rush out to Hershey, a park closer to me, to try out their new toy.

It should be ok, they're using TTD as a test-bed for it. ;)

It sucks that TTD will be down when you (or anyone) goes, but if you let it ruin your visit, it's your own fault yo.

I'm not as upset about not getting to ride TTD as I am about it making the lines for the other coasters 3 times as long.

The mount for the Wheels and the spoiler was still there last time I was at the park. The engine was mounted where the new seats are now, so they could add some theming without taking out the extra 2 seats.

Well hopefully with that and almost the whole month of sept they'll have most of the bugs worked out. When I went on Aug 5th it didn't run all day till 8:30 when we left it tested but didn't make it over the hill, so by Halloweekends hopefully it it will be running like it did back in may.

Im just wondering why they waited so long to post this news,

For me I don't really care anymore add another week to its downtime. Maybe that means this fall it will work with zero downtime. The only thing I like about TTD is when its running most the other lines are considerable shorter.

If we assume that the line is 4 hours (240 minutes), let's divide that by 15 rides. That's roughly 16 added minutes in line, just looking at coasters. Not a big deal, man.

I just got off the phone with the park information line. They haven't heard of this, supposedly.

Sounds like CP rushed TTD to open up. When I was at the park not to long ago employees started to take off a peace of track at the start of the launch and I did see the smoke when it did run for alittle of that day before going down. But all the other coaster in the park worked great that day.
^ They didn't rush it. Parks don't rush rides. Period.

And Hershey's won't be pushing things nearly as hard -- it'll be more akin to Knott's XCellerator, which is working pretty reliably nowadays.

The wheel diameter issue isn't just a matter of speed, it's also a matter of loading. The train isn't pulling any G's in the vertical plane on the launch, and I think that the wheels on the sled will be supporting only the weight of the sled, so the loading will be pretty low.
Also prays that joe is right! I've never ever been to Cedar Point in my life due to the fact that i live like an 8 hour drive away, but i have very badly wanted to go for the past couple years, and when i started reading about TTD over on Guide To The Point back in november, It magnified my wanting to get to the park by about 10!

I finally was able to talk my parents into getting to the park during the last week of August and I have been looking forward to riding TTD. Now I know the history of TTD and that it is not working half the time, so i've been preparing myself for the fact that I may not get to ride it. But for it to be down for something like this, which to me can wait until the off season, just disappoints me greatly. And you can save the whole speil about Cedar Point having other great roller coasters because I am well aware of this and I greatly look forward to them, it would just be nice to ride TTD that's all. Heck, I'd probobly even be satisfied if I just got to see a test launch!

I also got off the phone with the general info line, she said that IT IS scheduled to be open. She said it would be scheduled to be open, yea it'll experience temporary downtime, but its not closed those days. She asked someone else too, and she seemed to know what she was talking about, as soon as i said that she said "why does everyone thing that it'll be down those dates? Its not!"

So hopefully I'll be in luck, I'm crossing my fingers...

I was wondering how "confirmed" the dates are. Jeff said that some is true, and some is not.

If they have indeed announced those dates, I wonder why they're not on the website?
