The footers that have appeared on Cedar Point's beach have now caught the attention of the mainstream media as well. WEWS in Cleveland posted a story on their site (NewsNet5) that includes photos from Guide to The Point.
The bird's eye view photo on the NewsNet5 set gets me to think that the ride will be a Intamin LIM, like Superman: The Escape at Magic Mountain but bigger.

Accually I doubt it's a reverse freefall. RFs are LSM, not LIM. Unless the media got the two mixed up, or Intamin changed the way RFs are constructed, it won't be that. Also, in a recent topic in the forums, Jeff basically stated it would have a 450 degree spiral.
This leads me to belive it is going to be a giant impulse of the likes we've never seen. Also, in a different recent thread, Taipan said a website stated it would probably be a double track coaster. Maybe someone high up at CP has been reading the boards and knows that a lot of people thing a dual impulse would be cool... and of course, they have to do the Cedar Point thing, and make it huge!

And thanks for the compliments on the photos. Ironic that I let them post the photos there and haven't even got around to putting them on GTTP.

I'm quite excited! I honestly wasn't expecting something that appears to be so elaborate so soon after Millennium Force, but it looks as though Cedar Point will once again surpass any expectations. The pics are great, Jeff; I love the ariel! ----------------- Po!nt of View: A different look at Roller Coasters. [Website Currently Down - Returning Soon!]

Maybe the footers are for a boat launch into the lake. Just kidding, it will be pretty cool to see what the Point is actually getting. An intense impulse would be great to see. ----------------- BMCOASTER
CP was willing to confirm that there IS construction going on for the '02 season...I'm kinda surprised they'd admit even THAT much ;~)! ----------------- Son of Drop Zone - PKI CoasterCamp I Champions!!!

yea, there cant be any construction. those concrete things are parking lots. ;) i think it will be a launched coaster, but not a RF. i think it has inversions.
Ohh i know! For a while I've been waiting for some yards of concrete on the beach to lay on in the sun. ----------------- "I'm on a drinking team with a bowling problem..."
hmmmm, by lookin at the pics, id say that it certainly does look like some kind of LIM ride, and in intamin impulse would likely fit there....but we just gotta be patient. im sure whatever its gonna be, it will rock!! :) ----------------- ROLLERCOASTERS....BETTER THAN OXYGEN BABY!!!!!!
If Cedar Point gets an impulse then I will be really dissapointed. What kind of expansion is that for the so called #1 Amusement Park in the world?! Getting an impulse will be a huge step back for the park. At a time they need to be getting guests in the park they are definitly aproaching it the wrong way; especially with SFWOA no more than 2 hrs away, gaining more and more popularity, not to mention it already has the exact same ride. ----------------- "This time I think ...
