Cedar Point today announced Steel Vengeance, the reimagined Mean Streak roller coaster. The Rocky Mountain Construction rehab will have a 90-degree first drop and reach a speed of 74 mph over 5,740 feet of track.

Even though it sounds like a cheesy local heavy metal bar band, I like the name Steel Vengeance for a coaster.

The ride looks really good. I liked Mean Streak. This is quite an improvement though. It's funny how this has been rumor for so many years, and now it's happening.

I will miss the track over the lift, but changing this causes another head chopper, so it's six of one, half dozen of the other.

I love the second half. Twisting under that structure looks intense.

It sounds like what?

Steel Vengeance? I think they could have chosen a better name. Who ever names coasters at CP should be fired and if it is a committee it should be disbanded. The coaster sure looks better than the name and I can't wait to ride it.

Hopefully they finally can get rid of that first drop trim brake :)

I truly believe this could replace Millennium Force as Cedar Point’s flagship coaster. It looks incredible and very exciting. I’m excited to visit next year to ride.

Now that Six Flags over Georgia has replaced Cedar Point as my home park, I’m hoping that whatever they’re going to do with cyclone will be even half as exciting as this looks.

I still think Four Horsemen would have been a good name. But, much like every other Cedar Fair creation, I'm sure I'll get used to it. (At least they didn't name it Back Peninsula Hybrid Coaster).

The coaster looks positively amazing. I'm salivating, just watching the video.

Cedar Point does it again.

So in a few years the band will force them to change the name I'm guessing?

All RMC's have a height requirement of only 48 inches

If the animations are correct, one change in the vehicles I noticed this that they are doubling the number of road wheels per axle.

1) How tall will Steel Vengeance stand?

2) If over 200 ft, is this the first Hyper-hybrid coaster ever so to speak?

3) That has to be the greatest looking roller coaster I have ever laid my eyes on! Amazing!

I'm 5'10" and I don't know that I'm big enough for RMCs....doesn't stop me from riding them. :-P

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

assuming that MS numbers were low

I recall the one day we opened the switchbacks in 2005.

The 80s band t-shirts actually are kind of cool, I might have to get one. Along with a vintage mean streak shirt.
The following post was borrowed, but funny and true.

You knuckleheads complaining about the name of this ride are morons. If a model stripped naked in front of you I bet you would head right to your smartphones and Tweet that you didn't like the girl's underwear. Mean Streak is going to go from one of the worst coasters in that park to one of the best coasters in the Country and you are going to be debating about the speed of the freaking lift hill.

Ahh, I'm going to have to go ahead and ask you to come in on Sunday, too...

Bad analogy. If she was naked she wouldn't be wearing underwear... and everyone knows you're not allowed to use your phone when you're up at the stage.

That's a pretty nice 1-2 punch in that corner of the park they'll have next year. Can't wait to get back out there for this. It looks pretty much like the coaster version of a greatest hits album (RMC's).

Is there any other coaster that has tiny bunny hop right at the bottom of the first drop? Looks like a lot of fun.

Boss at SFStl?

Before it was axed, Hurricane Category 5 at Myrtle Beach had some potholes after the drop (and everywhere else) that would probably qualify as tiny bunny hops.

The trick was to surrender to the flow.

Do people ever really ride a coaster and think, "I would like this so much more if it had a better name"?

Twenty odd years ago, I was compulsive about determing the ranking of each coaster I rode by giving points for various categories. A coaster's name could receive up to five points towards the ride's total.

These days, my ranking system is a bit simpler: "Oh my God I love it!", "That was fun!" and "That was nice. Where's the french fry stand?"

Steel Vengeance is a fine name, and kudos to Cedar Fair for bringing some creativity to the naming of rides. (Looking at you, Six Flags...) GateKeeper, Valravn, Professor Delbert's Frontier Fling, and so on.

Never tried using my phone at the stage, but I did try using it at the counter at a bookie once. Not sure if its changed, but then they really didn't want people taking pictures of their betting boards. Closest I have ever come to thinking an appendage was going to be forcibly removed from my body. In their defense there were many signs against it, they were just trying to maintain the integrity of the fine establishment.
