Junior, I think he meant that the Screamin Swings change direction quickly with power, where the Frisbees freefall more.
Whatever the subtle difference are, it is basically the same ride without a spin. It isn't the first time Cedar Point has had repeat rides.......Tiki Twirl and Calypso, 2 Dodgems, and i think at one time there was a trabant as well as Schwabinchen.

It looks like the land clearance and the overall paint scheme of the ride will take away from the rustic feel of the area to a degree.

Heh, its not used for anything is it? I guess I just never noticed it.

Bathrooms. Used to be used for the old lifts to and from FT.

I don't get the comparisons to Maxair. They both swing - end of list. If you've ever ridden both style of rides, they're as different as can be. Probably more so than any of the gazillion variations of rides that spin - and most of those offer distinct sensations.

Where are all the comparisons to Ocean Motion or any other swinging ship as well?? Those swing too, so they must be the same ride ;)

Seriously, I've been on KBF's Screamin' Swing and I've been on maXair. Apples and oranges. CPLady is right - the restraints really make the difference.

I think Gonch has it - both rides swing, with riders suspended from a gondola supported from above by a type of steel structure. Not much more to it, folks.

I guess this will be an OK addition to Cedar Point... it's no new thrill coaster, but this ride really doesn't give me motivation to really want to visit next year like I have been the past few years.

It's definately going to change the way the area looks in Frontier Town. From a nice quaint wooded setting to a more open setting. Looks like they may be taking out a lot of trees for this... but it will be popular with the peeps, that's for sure.

...I just still find it an awfully similar (not completely, however) experience to maXair, where-as it's another swingie back-n-forth ride. Yea, CP really didn't have any prior to maXair, but of the 100's of other flat rides out there, that they'd choose one similar to maXair's experience in a sequential year.

...either way, good for the park... but White Water Landing will sorely be missed by some regardless.

Actually, they probably won't be taking out much in the way of trees. The Skyhawk site is pretty open now as it's the entrance plaza for Snake River Falls and exit plaza for the Mine Ride. They're just filling in the gap, so to speak.

I still say a 2-MINUTE ride cycle is as unrealistic as anything I have seen...that includes load, unload, speil, ride, and possibly a bathroom break. Screamin' Swing (at least at Knott's, Dorney, and WA) lasts closer to 20-25 seconds....

The other possibility, however remote, is that CP *sprung* for some extra air compressors (or larger tanks), and is *extending* the ride cycle...

OK, really REALLY remote... ;)

The animation seems to imply a longer ride-cycle. The good-sized compressor houses do too. At least I hope so...

WONDERFUL QUE :)

cedar point and therir darn queues.

it just looks so lame, all those silver pipes and concrete.

They just want it to be a people eater and give them something in the form of a ride. I would say its just an option other than getting wet, because they really dont have any rides back there other than water rides. The placement is a bit strange. I think that the whitewater landing area would be better, and they could add a few more flats there as well. That area is like shops and restaurants, mainly then you sprinkle in the few coasters, although not their best by a long shot, they had to have something other than just water rides. This area has the wave swinger and antique cars, so a new ride was really sorely needed in that area, but not the plot of land it will be sitting on, it seems so congested there. Also whats with cedar fair and hawks. They have thunderhawk and now skyhawk, i doubt much went into the naming of this one. Cedar Point has always been pretty good with naming rides, but this one feels old hat.*** This post was edited by MagnunBarrel 10/31/2005 3:24:48 PM ***

I actually like the name Skyhawk a lot. Before I heard the name, I was fearing something "XTREME." That would have been old hat.
Well, you know that they aren't going to just tear out WWL and leave it empty forever. Undoubtedly, they already have plans for that area...we just don't know what they are yet. All good things will be revealed in due time...patience, Grasshoppa.

For those still having a hard time visualizing the placement of this ride (myself semi-included :) ) - I believe it's the left part of this photo that will sport a little different look come next season. (warning: 600kb photo)

I'm as giddy as a little schoolgirl about this ride.

Trust me, you'll love it!

It's not the Sandusky Skyhawk?
How is that different than your normal personality, Rob? ;)

Let me add this to LG's post, to help further illustrate the location.
Seems like they may be saving up for 07...
