I am temporarily living in Southern California and if the subject of theme parks arises in conversation....I ask if anyone has heard of Cedar Point. I would estimate less than 10% have ever heard of it. At my original home, in N. Ohio (10 miles from CP) less than 10% have ever heard of Six Flags Magic Mountain. Us roller coaster geeks know about it and WISH there was a war between the parks...end result..more coasters!!! As for the executives at CP and SFMM...they don't care about the other park at all!

everybody is obsessed with records, lists, categories, awards, etc. There are so many awards and records that none of them really mean anything anymore. How many award shows are on TV now? I say who cares. Its the whole forest and trees thing.
That would be funny if SFMM and all SF parks started killing CP with adding a lot more rides every year. Then because of the CP started to dismantle rides for "The Park With the Least Rides" world record(if there is one).

I agree with Jeff when he says that Cedar Point's CEO doesn't care about Six Flags. But they do care about the record that they have had for many years.
Six Flags still shouldn't have the record because any ride that launches riders off, or is not a full circuit is not a roller coaster. That makes Superman at SFMM not a roller coaster. That also makes Cedar Point not count Power Tower. If SFMM can count Superman than CP can count Power Tower.

If there's a war, nobody knows about it here in Los Angeles, becuase nobody here, except for me, has even HEARD of Cedar Point.

I don't think you understand, everybody is sick of hearing about the whole record beating thing. Most people have accepted the fact that it is now in SFMM's possession. The topic has been here over and over. I can't believe this one hasn't been closed.

You guys have taken this way too far, moderators and everyone. Obviously people do care about this record thing because it keeps coming up so its stupid to say "Who cares"
I don't think AztecWarrior2k1 has been to GTTP so he simply wants to know what coasters may be planned to be built, but instead of some people, or even the moderators answering his question or referring him to GTTP, everyone talked about that they new to talk about, an imaginary war between CP and MM Which is really a war between the people who like CP and the people who like MM. This is one topic I think should be closed and maybe restarted because at this point it has gotten off track.

Assuming they don't do this, they could count Demon Drop as a coaster. I got the idea from some book about coasters, which claimed that Superman AND Demon Drop were "freefall coasters". It's an evil,sneaky,very very bad idea, but who knows? Maybe they WILL do it! And maybe I will be the first man on Pluto, and I will start a farm there. And eat gorillas for dinner.

I didn't say that chitown said that. The compute didn't put his saying in italicized mine was at the bottom. I totally agree with you. If no one cares for this topic then why does it keep poping up. I think The people that are tired of it don't have to reply or even open the post. For one if it says cedar point or sfmm then you know it is going to have something on the record of the most coaster. I also don't think it is a war in the sense that they are not going to loose guest from it but i think that it is more bragging rights things. Obviously sfmm wouldn't have added 3 coasters if they didn't want the title. They normally would have spaced them out. Cedar point is not only adding coasters to keep attendance up put to keep the title for some bragging rights. Come on if you were a non coaster enthusiest and was going to pick from a park in ohio or anywhere wouldn't you go to the park that had the best or the most. If you tell me no you a dang lier because it is human nature to go to the places that have the most. Also as for everyone saying CP is not worried Tell me why have they offically said thing and also have said that superman the escape is not a rollercoaster therefore they are tied with coasters. Why would big time people take time out of there schedule if they are not some what worried or at least paying attention to it????? answer that will you

Have you been to the grounds already or not. And when they say " boom " have they stated what year and where it is going to be located? Maybe the boom could be the trust of a thrust air or an lim.
I hate to go back to the war, but we all know CP is about quality, and IMO that's why it's generally regarded as the best park out there. Every ride they add is one of the tops of its kind, so I don't see them getting into a coaster war which would result in more sub-par rides being built.
I really hope they add a woodie -- that's one category they need an upgrade in.
