hambone:
And what lies beneath is an ancient Indian burial ground.
It's also a pretty terrible Harrison Ford movie from 2000.
I am absolutely shocked at this news. I figured after TT2, working or not, we'd be waiting years before we'd see a new coaster. And then they deliver a friggin' tilt coaster? From Vekoma? Bold move Cedar Point...
Help me out guys. Location? The old employee dorms?
Edit: I see now "Located across from Iron Dragon and near the Cedar Point Marina"
jameswhitmore.net
More of a story than typically behind Cedar Point rides. And...
The vehicles also feature two firsts for Cedar Point: on-board audio, allowing the sound of the siren to envelop you as you escape her grasp; and high-tech LED lighting on the exterior of each car, mimicking the silky motion and eerie nature of the mythical creature, from the top of the tower to the adrenaline-pumping journey below.
Correct, on the site of the old dorms.
The first drop will face down at the pathway just across from the Iron Dragon Station, which should create a neat spectator area.
It looks like the Perimeter Road will be re-routed to be closer to the lake so the land where the old dorms were will now connect to the park.
Not that this level of detail is correct, but notice that the videos show no activity on Top Thrill 2. (OK, I'm sure that's reading in way too much...)
Holy smokes. What's the antonym for anticipointment?!
Of all the things I imagined from the teaser a few days ago of what could be, this wasn't it. I mean, I didn't know what to expect, but this wasn't even on the radar. I got up this morning, wasn't even thinking about the announcement and this pops up. What a treat. This looks fantastic!
A next-gen vekoma thrill coaster within driving distance... I love it.
In a previous post, I said that we'd probably be disappointed in this announcement. Oops.
I didn't expect that they would open a new coaster this soon. I didn't expect that they would be using the old dorm location so soon. I didn't expect this not to be a new water ride in place of Snake River Falls. I didn't expect a tilt coaster would ever be open in the U.S. anytime soon. But it makes sense.
This is an off-the-shelf model, right? Something they could quickly purchase and get installed to make up for the TT2 problems, maybe? Could this have been bought and planned when they saw TT2 was going to be closed? Could it have happened that fast? Maybe?
Looks like a lot of fun. I like the theme, but not the name. The red track is kind of weird too. Are curses from mythical sea creatures red? LOL I'm not going to be too critical though. It's a solid addition, if it works. If it has maintenance problems because it is a new kind of coaster, Cedar Point will never hear the end of it.
Looks like I need to plan a little trip to Cedar Point next year.

That is a 100% custom layout ^
But yeah, the ride really looks great. My only criticism is the color scheme, but whatever. Would have looked so good if they went a bit more, nautical(?) with the scheme? Blues/greens/greys or something.
That teaser was a lot of water talk for....checks notes....no water?
I can't remember being this surprised by an announcement for something of this scale for quite a while. Looks like a lot of fun. Let's all hope it goes off without a hitch.
