Cedar Point 2007. Here's the latest.

At Eastcoaster this past weekend, Cedar Fair outlined other improvements and additions that will be happening to the park.

1. Joe Cool and Resort Guests will now get in 30 minutes earlier for a total of 1 Hour ERT. This years early ride time will be on: Maverick, Millennuim, Skyhawk, Raptor, and the Gemini Childrens Area.

2. There will be 1 or 2 (i forget which) new restaurants this year. With DIFFERENT FOOD!!! He didn't say what the restaurants will be because they are still in negotiations.

3. A new 3 Point Challenge game in Frontier Town. They said this was a big success at Cedar Point and other parks as well.

4. A new shooting gallery in Frontier Town.

5. Halloweekends will have one more weekend. (One less Bonus Weekend)

6. They are adding a New Parade.

7. As we already knew, both Friday's restaurants were renovated.

8. And of course Maverick.

SWEET! 1 whole hour of ERT! Breaker's Express here I come!!!!!

I think adding GCA is a great move. There were so many families that I met while working at CP that had gotten in early but had nothing to do with their little ones.

I assume the 3 Point Challenge game was the same one they added at KD near the lift-turnaround of Shockwave last season. As someone else said, it was the first thing that said "Cedar Fair now owns this park."

Yea....3 point challenge will fit right in with the "wild west" theme.;)

I do like that they are going to bring back the shootin gallery, I really miss it.

A parade....interesting idea. Maybe a nick themed parade?

New restaurants?....Crosses fingers for a taco bell or skyline chili.

Taco Bell??? At Cedar Point??? VOMIT!! That would be the worst thing possible.

Skyline chili I can see. mmmm 5-way <drool>. But, I'd have to have sympathy for the CP workers cleaning the bathrooms if they get a Taco Bell.

Like there would be any less of a mess than a 5-way.;)

1 hour ERT? When we stayed at Breakers Express in late 2005, they told us guests get in 1/2 hour early for sweet ridage... Lo' and behold they were letting everyone in 1/2 hour early. Suddenly, we didn't feel so special!

My friends and I felt the same way when we entered with the ERT guests and realized EVERYONE was going in.

It's going to be 1/2 hour earlier than the 1/2 hour early.

Those 3 point challenge games seem to be really popular and draw lots of spectators. At $5 a game, and not many people winning any prize (or the few that won the lower level prizes), it probably was very profitable.

I feel sorry for you people who didn't understand the ERT policy. EVERYONE is allowed in half an hour before the rest of the park opens for the Millennium Force, Maverick, Skyhawk, Raptor, and Gemini Kids Area ERT. Resort guests are let in an additional half hour before that. Thus 9:00 to 9:30 ERT for resort guests only, and 9:30 to 10:00 ERT for everyone. This year I'm assuming that means resort guest ERT becomes 8:30 to 9:30. *** Edited 2/6/2007 6:23:01 AM UTC by StLCPfan***

I just checked on this same topic at pointbuzz, and several people have speculated that resort guest entry will remain 1 hour before park opening but no more GP early entry is what the new policy might be.

That would seem to go against what Cedar Fair does at the rest of their parks.

Generally, the park gates will open a half hour early for everyone -- it's expected that while they will open when ready if it's earlier, they will not necessarily open before park opening (in most cases, 10:00) Cedar Point is the only one I'm aware of that has ERT for resort guests -- it's 1/2 hour of ERT which would be 9:00-9:30 on specific coasters. Obviously since these coasters are already open, they will be available at 9:30 for the rest of the public. The other non-ERT rides, however, may not open until 10.

My logical vote would be that the resort ERT would now be 8:30-9:30. However, with lines lasting until well after 1am some nights, that doesn't give much time for maintenance to do their daily tests/inspections (not to mention the college kids and internationals who work open to close 6 days a week time to sleep) So, who knows?

The nostalgic me is darn happy about this news.

Cracker Barrel could be nice around Frontier Town. Hell, that would fit right into the background. (now I'm hungry)
