Cedar Point - Thoughts and Questions for Future Discussion

Kiddie Kingdom and Kiddieland from Kennywood are both places my parents and grandparents use to take us when we were young. I remember riding the rapids ride at Kiddie Kingdom and being completely scared(I have it on video to!). I wouldn't want to see it change. I also miss Bearinstien Bear Country. I even reemember playing around in the HUGE tree there. It's alot better than the Loney Toon areas at the Six Flags parks were you have IN YOUR FACE characters and colors and the kids are always spraying you with the damn water guns. *** Edited 5/21/2007 9:31:13 PM UTC by Kennywooddude***
I'm with Tambo! This isn't Kiddielandbuzz.com. ;)
Oh yeah! BEACHFRONT WOODIE for CP!!! CP needs another woodie, AND a coaster that ISN'T made by Intamin.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

Ive always been a big fan of adding a darkride into the main arcade off of the main midway.

With demond drop for sale, i could see them either getting rid of the picnic area at the front, or some of the lot by DT to build a great ride. Maybe make a signature entrance that Cedar Point still lacks. Could even be a great GCI using some of the lake front. *** Edited 5/23/2007 6:21:07 AM UTC by jar***

LOL! We've been pushing this so-called "Boardwalk project" for *at least* the last 5-7 years. No luck so far - but that GCII at ValleyFair! brought new life into the rumor/myth/eternal hope. Don't stop asking... ;)

It took me a minute to realize you weren't talking about a lack of business at the Parasail booth. ;)

oh, wow..what a great first post after not posting for almost a year...

While CP will always be best known as a coaster park to most of us, some more balance in ride makeup would be welcome. The park does have some awesome flats but could use an interactive darkride and another water ride.

I think CP has plenty of kids rides, I really like the Kiddie Kingdom area and it's nostalgic look...hope they don't change it anytime soon. I don't want DT to go either, I love that ride and all my friends love it too....it's unique and fun...and air-conditioned.

As for the Diveshow, bring on the GCI please, or even another log flume....I'd also like to see Dorney Park's Skyride brought out of the boneyard and set up. *** Edited 5/23/2007 12:20:38 PM UTC by scraperguy99***

What are you talking about?

I understand Cedar Point's nostalgia points, and I also know that the average five year old really doesn't care what cartoon is featured- they just care about the toys and slides and such they see.

But as far as attracting and business affairs, the Snoopy stuff should take a break. Now that Cedar Fair owns the Paramounts, don't they have rights to the Nickelodeon stuff now? If so, they have a perfect opportunity to spice things up.

I do give credit, however, to Cedar Point having multiple children's areas.

I know Cedar Point tries to stay nostalgic in some areas, and I also know that the average five year old doesn't care what cartoons there are, they just care about the slides and playgrounds and such.

If by some miracle a coaster were to be built on the beach, would the DT be taken out? It's basically a lost cause now.

I had read an idea elsewhere that they should remove the stadium and DT. With the space created they could build a Boardwalk area reminicent (SP) of Coney Island with food stands, shops and a great new wooden coaster to anchor the whole area. Just imagine the great views of the lake from there.

There is no better sound than that of a wooden rollercoaster climbing the first hill

^ That's basically "the Boardwalk Project" in a nutshell. Will it happen? Who knows...

Maybe the Boardwalk is "project 2008 and '09." CP could stand another woodie to balnce out all the steel. Granted, the "Streaks" are fine coasters, but the last hunk of wood CP installed was 15 years ago!

Another PTC or GCII would be cool. Just don't make it an Intamin. :P

A new PTC would be quite a trick. ;)
As much trouble as Intamins are these days, I'd be all for an Intamin plug-and-play. Of course, a GG or GCII would do nicely, as well. At least CCI and Summers/Dinn are no longer options!

coastin' since 1985

I didn't really appreciate CP's kiddie areas until I visited last year over (of all times) 4th of July weekend with my own little ones. Spent lots of time in Camp Snoopy, a little bit in Kiddie Kingdom (which they enjoyed, but admittedly it was probably more of a nostalgia kick for ME to see them on the same circular rides I grew up on). And, being that it was hot and mega-crowded, the Peanuts Playground (or whatever it is called) was a godsend for them to just go dig in the dirt and climb stuff for a while and get away from the crowds.

Compared to some other parks, the kids areas are definitely more low-key--which I actually didn't mind--but my kids seemed to love them.

They could always get rid of Mean Streak. Theirs a plot of land for a geat woodie, just under a crapy woodie.

I called CP and was trying to find stuff about Maverick and then I was like why dont you get rid of Mean Streak because it is lame (in nicest word possible) and why dont you add a GCI or Gravity Group (of course she didnt know what I was talking about) Then she said they have a comment section on their site.

So here is my plan we all request a GCI, TGG, or Intamin(even with CP great luck with them) and maybe they will put on in.

Just a thought.
