Cedar Point - and growing name brand recognition

I live in Youngstown, Ohio (Where Jim Tressel came from, Go Bucks!) and CP is only about 2 hours away. Not to metion, you have the option to take a pit stop at SFWoA and strectch the trip a couple of days. :-)

Keeping Youngstown Living Exciting

While Cedar Point has world recognition, the fact that they are part of a chain is somewhat unknown outside of the enthusiast world. It is amazing how many people are surprised that my Dorney pass gets me into the other CF parks. They don't push the Cedar Fair name around like Six Flags does.

In terms of marketing range, CP hasnt exactly reached northern virginia yet. I made a trip to CP with my family and a friend last summer, and it was great. But ill tell you, everyone in the immediate area around me thinks that alpengeist and hypersonic are the biggest and baddest rides around.

The one thing i notice is that people will go the extra mile to get to IoA and other parts in FL. Just from watching TV in the summer, i see several IoA advertisements per week. I think it would be just as easy for CP to do the same thing, seeing as people drive farther to get to IoA.

Being more family oriented helps PKI a lot. Families with smaller kids are more likely to go to PKI than CP. So PKI even reaches into CP's market. I have met some people who think CP isn't a family park, that all they have is huge rollercoasters. They don't know about Camp Snoopy. I personally think CP should add a couple of Kiddie coasters to attract more families. Cleveland also has the Rockers! Which is great because after watching a game at the Jake, you can get a late lunch then watch a Rockers game. (which is more clean and enjoyable than NBA).

Evolution is wrong!

The fact that CP draws from Detroit and Cleveland gives them a bigger market. Add in Toledo and Akron and it blows away the radius of Cinti's sphere (Dayton, Columbus, Indy, Louisville, and Lexington).

PKI definatelly has suddenly recieved this great recognition for "family" friendly park. But i don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Outside of that one area there is little for the little ones to do. And there aren't as many flats for the bigger little ones. PKI's family friendly advantage comes because people think it is, not because they have more rides or are more thoughful of the family.

Basically it boils down to location. If one park is closer most families are more aware of it. I don't know of many families who are willing to pack up their kids and drive 4 or so hours to PKI when they can get to CP in under 2. And vise versa.
