The WindSeeker ride at Carowinds malfunctioned Sunday, stranding 64 passengers high above the amusement park for more than an hour. The malfunction happened at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday — a year and two weeks after the same ride malfunctioned in the same way. The malfunction caused Cedar Fair, which owns Carowinds, to suspend WindSeeker operations at six locations.

That's probably true, but the Windseekers were designed as a direct competitor for Funtime's Starflyer, and therefore, in my opinion, could be considered a
"copy".

Yeah, but with ludicrous levels of capacity and awesome lighting setups. I personally love the WindSeekers and make a point of riding them whenever I'm at a park that has one. I can't say that about any other flat ride outside of Disney (well, maybe the S&S Skyswatter...).

I feel pretty much the same about Windseekers as I do about Wave Swingers. I'll ride them, occasionally...if someone else with me has a burning desire to.
I am such a lousy enthusiast, I have yet to visit a park that has a WindSeeker....
...but honestly, I'd skip 'em all for some laps on the RMC rides and the *other* GCII ride at CGA (aka, "the mine shaft").
P.S. Have to give a shout-out to the S&S Swatter....wish they'd spin faster, but still great fun!
I love Flats, and I make it a point to ride them a lot. Some of my favorites which I hardly ever miss when a park has one include:
-Windseekers
-S&S Screaming Swings
-Enterprises
-Huss Swing Around (love these rides)
-Flyers (this past trip one of my favorite memories was on Carowind's version, where I was part of a chain of 5 adults/teens who where all snapping away for most of the ride)
- Giant Frisbees
-Steam Train
-Any carousel which is not a standard design (ie Columbia Carousel @SFGAm, Cedar Downs, Carousel at Story Land, Knobeles)
-Tea Cups that rotate between platforms
-Whips
Im sure Im missing some more but that is a good start.

Touchdown - the Tea Cup type ride you're referring to...a PTC Crazy Dazy. As far as I know, Sylvan Beach and Knoebels have the two remaining permanent installations. Pretty sure SeaBreeze got rid of theirs.
Wow - talk about a miss! Just found out Adventureland in Iowa has one too! That was a park I needed more time to explore....hey Matt!??!
Canobie Lake and Story Land in NH both have them too, those parks are where I fell in love with them.

^Now that you remind me, I remember the Canobie ride...the Caterpillar grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go... ;~)
Story Land is one I'm still missing...
They used to have a really trippy dark ride there (Voyage to the Moon) as well, and still do have one of my favorite raft rides (Dr. Geyser's Remarkable Raft Ride, loads of Geysers throughout.) However, its really a place for kids, and you would feel out of place without a rug rat with you. Im looking forward to going back there in a few years now that Im going to be an uncle soon.

WindSeeker at Knotts hasn't operated since getting stuck with riders for nearly 4 hours last September.
Fun Fact: Carowinds only has one R.
I loved riding the Windseeker at Kings Dominion! I hope they fix the problems with the ride and can keep them in operation in the future! I wish Cedar Fair would add one at Dorney Park but I doubt the government in that town would allow for the park to build it very high.
Your not the only one who is CRAZY!

I assumed he meant that he could see KI's skyline from his deck. Which would be really cool if it were me!
Will G, Allentown's government recently gave Dorney permission to build much higher, I believe, however, Cedar Fair would be absolutely nuts to buy another Windseeker at this point. Then again, they do keep buying Intamin coasters, so maybe they are already nuts enough to do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But, the last coaster Cedar Fair bought from Intamin was Maverick back in 2007.

While not really a coaster, Shoot the rapids was also built in 2010.
