For details, check out the press release at Cedar Fair's website.

I agree with Rob
Six flags I think should have gotten it
I dont like Cedar Fair parks to much
They focus to much and being the biggest
And the best and the best instead of the overall

CF - SF
ST - GASM (oG), JRS (oT), AE (GAm), Colossus (MM)
Raptor - B:TR (GAm)
Talon - B:TR (anywhere else ;))
Millie - S:ROS (NE)
Maggie - S:ROS (DL)
SForce - S:ROS (Am)
GR - Villian (WoA), Viper (GAm), TCyclone (AW) GCyclone (oG), TGiant (oT)
With world class rides like Nitro, Goliath, Titan, Medusa and Raging Bull to spare.....

Anyway, to be on topic, I dont much care either way. Like Rob I'd have rather seen SFI take over but for different reasons, I'm an SFbrat.

HERES SOME NEWS....

About two years ago, Mich. Adv. got a zoning approval on a 200 foot coaster, which is good, because though famous for building Hypers, Cedar Fair won't have to sit around waiting for one to be approved. If its not in the works already, we are sure to see a Morgan or Arrow hyper in 2003.
Now I hate to hear all of this bashing on Cedar Fair, but I hate to say it if Six Flags Corp took over there would be just as much complaining going on. CF knows that they have a gem on their hands with Timbers and they won't do anything to ruin it. Keep in mind that Mean Streak and Hurcules are a different type of coaster than Timbers so I don't think you will see trims on there any time soon, or a brake run added after the turnaround.

Just relax and look forward to the future!

I think the first thing CF needs to do is put in some sort of Midway. That's one thing I didn't like about MA park.
It kind of has one. What they need to do is somethign else with the stretch along the pond between the amusement park and the water park.
ok, here's the low-down people...

MA may go two routes...either that of World's of Fun or Knott's. WofF hasn't gotten anything good since 1998, which may be the fate of MA since they don't have a large bank account. On the other hand, look at how many rides have poured into Knott's in the past few years. I'm hoping the latter will happen, of course.
I'm sure that Cedar Fair will not hurt Shivering Timbers at all. The rides that were mentioned above had problems to begin with. Those problems caused the need for trim brakes. At this point, Shivering Timbers does not have the need for trims and I'm sure that it won't get them unless the need arises.
I'll jump on the little SF bandwagon and say that I wish they would've taken over MA instead. WoF, VF, pre-01 Dorney. That's all I need to say. And GhostRider and MR are the only coasters worth returning to Knott's for. MF the only coaster(for me) to go to CP for. I wish SFNE was closer. :( I want my SROS. I would rather MA get a Deja Vu, SF theming, Bugs Bunny World, and free waterpark than another Morgan hyper, no theming, Camp Snoopy, and a pay waterpark. At least if they got a SF hyper, it would be B&M, Intamin, or that G word(Giovanola?). Hopefully, they would keep good operations at MA just like I found last year at SFNE and SFGAm.

I love how everyone thinks that CEO's sit around and think about how they can trim a ride or sell Snoopy lunch boxes.

heres why six flags shouldn't have look at darien lake, before the take over they were the owners were improving that place like mad, now they hardly ever get enything new Also look at what, and they actually removed a ride. Also as far as the improvements go cedar fair at least builds different rides all the ones that go into six flags parks go into most of the rest. I haven't been to this park yet but i hope to go, to bad cedar fair couldn't have baught americana though.
I don't know why people are worried. Cedar Fair has done nothing but greatly IMPROVE Knott's since it was bought. I have no doubt in my mind that they won't do the same for MA. Trust me it was a good move.

Personally, I'm glad to see someone pick up the park. I have to wonder if there are other reasons Jourden decided to sell. Let's look at the silver lining here, people. At least the park will remain open and it will have corporate backing for future development. Does it really matter if it's a Six Flags or Cedar Fair park? Either way, my season pass will still work there :)

What has Cedar Point done to improve Knott's besides Supreme Scream and Perilous Plunge? And no, CF did not choose to build GR. And adding a pay water park is no improvement as far as I'm concerned. They even removed/are removing some rides.

All I can say is wait and see. From some of the rumors out there, KBF might turn some heads in the near future.

This is the best coaster news I have heard this year yet. This is a very good move for Cedar Fair. There is ALOT of land at that park, and plenty of room to add stuff to make it a top rated Theme Park. Thank you Jesus!

Here's a little insider info for y'all. I live down the road from MA, so rumblings are all that I hear...hehehe. Get it? :) Anyways, yes, a 200 ft. hyper was approved by the zoning commission, but that was put on hold by Jourden in favor of something a little more zippier. The word around town is this...the new steel that was/is in the works for 2002 is a 130 ft+ suspended/inverted along the lines of Raptor and Batman. This was the talk at the end of last season, so who knows now. Everyone is pretty tight lipped as to the exactitudes of which it will be, but it will be one of those two for sure. I can definately say this, Jourden planned on the hyper, but wants the suspended/inverted.

Plenty of room for expansion, I feel CF will do the right things. Not much room at the point anymore for them to add on to, so maybe they're also looking to MA as a possible test bed for future rides and attractions at the other existing parks. *shrugs-food for thought* Acquiring MA and all of it's land has virtually given them the opportunity to start over if you will. They just ended up getting one heck of a bonus ride in ST to kick them into a new gear. I must say...was on ST on it's inaugural day, and it just keeps getting better and better everytime I ride it.

Anyways, those were my ramblings. Love the site.

If you show up then you're there....
I can't wait 'till 2002!!! Two Cedar Fair parks with new coasters within 5 hours of eachother, and I'm right smack dab in the middle!!!! (East Lansing, MI)
This is GREAT! Cedar Fair is SO much better than Six Flags! Six Flags builds too many clones! Cedar Fair will operate this park very well. As far as all of you assholes who believe Cedar Fair will do a ****ty job with this park - GO TO ANOTHER PARK OWNED BY SIX FLAGS AND STOP COMPLAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
