Cedar Fair spending $83 million next year

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8M5H5900.htm

Includes $4 million in restaurant renovations at Cedar Point, $10 million at Kings Island and $8 million at Knotts.

$10 million at Kings Island huh? I wonder how much of this is going to the SOB rennovations alone?
New waterpark improvements? Wonder which ones are getting the touch up? As much as I would like one of them to be WWK at GL, I highly doubt it.
It's been a while since they did anything with Soak City, I wouldn't be surprised if something isn't placed there.

I think it was 2 years ago, that soak city added that big water play/slide complex.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

More details available at http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/press_releases/index.cfm

CP:
- $21 million on Maverick
- $4 million on restaurant renovations and general park improvements

King's Dominion:
- $11 million water park expansion (second wave pool, a Tornado water slide, and a Zoom Flume raft ride)

King's Island:

Knotts:
- $8 million (major new thrill ride(s) that will be announced by the park at a later date)

The Cedar Fair website pretty much spells out which parks will be getting the money.

http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/press_releases/index.cfm

It appears the waterpark improvements will be at PKD. I suspect the PKI money goes to SoB and X-flight. It doesn't appear there will be much money spent on any additional projects that haven't already been anounced. If your local park hasn't already announced their plans, don't expect Santa to bring them anything special for Christmas this year. :(

Sounds like KI is getting something decent and new... I can't imagine it costing $10 million to move X-Flight.

^ PKI also has to fix SoB which won't be cheap. Between those two projects, there may not be much left over. I wouldn't expect any other major additions.
Yes, but X-Flight + SOB rehab + other park renovations could well add up to $10 million.

For the amount that they are spending on Sob, they could have tore it down and built a good wooden coaster in its place.

^ We don't know how much is going to SoB...calm down. I think we can all say we know CF did the best business decision possible in their case with SoB.

Besides...the money is to make it a good wooden coaster!

This may be out there but does anyone think that the money spent at Knott's may not just be for that new rollercoaster Sierra something or another but maybe something else. I dont truly believe that thing wont be that much. Just a thought

Mack rides are very expensive unfortunately. Parc Asterix spent 12-13 millions on one of their Bobsled coaster! Their original spinning coaster (Euro Mir at Europa Park) was reported as costing as much as 30-35 millions.
At the Halloween Haunt Ace-event, the figure given for the new mouse was $6 million. I'm guessing the rest will be other improvements around the area of the ride. You know, new concrete and stuff! ;)
Nothing for Carowinds (unless we get Steel Venom, which I doubt since it's still on the GL site and XFlight's not). :(

Figures after they talked about what an interesting possibility it presented, in being a picturesque park in an uncontested region that has destination possibilities, that they'd add nada. FU @ CF. I want Paramount back.

That is much funnier than it got credit for. :)
