So, I guess the rumors were TRUE. Who would have thunk it.

Dayuum, Your HOT!
Gemini, just to say maybe you should sumbit this as a news item as the mods are likely to close this thread.
This means Cedar Fair will have *THREE* good wood coasters...!

It could be a good move in that Cedar Fair can afford to build a lot of new rides there on all the vacant land. However, it will mean the better than ever price of admission ($20.00) for the opportunity to ride the world's best woodie, ST, will increase. Bummer!

This news item has been submitted, we are just waiting for it to be posted. Until then, we'll keep the thread active.
NOOOOOOO!

Y'know, after spending nine hours at Dorney
on Sunday, and fourteen hours at Cedar Point
last August, I'm becoming less and less ''fond''
of Cedar Fair.

They have some of the STUPIDEST ride
policies or any park or chain, anywhere.

- You must take everything with you on
most rides, even when you load/unload
at the same place!

- EVERTHING has seatbelts! The Wild Mouse
at Dorney, hell, even the Antique Car ride
at Cedar Point had 'em! Lighten up a little
fellas, geeze!

- They've braked Hercules and Thunderhawk,
not to mention Mean Streak, to all hell.

- And my biggest gripe, not being able to
stay on the ride, or re-ride, when their is
no line. WHAT is the point of that other
than to PO the customer?

- They love to rip out classic rides, and
replace them with nothing (or nothing
worthwhile). This season, Dorney's
beloved Paratrooper got the boot, as
did Cedar Point's Fascination.

- Will someone tell me WHY they are
SO strict about being ''ALL THE WAY
BEHIND THE YELLOW LINE! YOU! IN
THE YELLOW SHIRT! MOVE BACK!''
A train on Steel Force sat on the
holding brakes for almost two
minutes simply because this kid
wasn't *totally*behind the yellow
line. I mean, it was only his tip
toes, and it was only because
the other people in line were pushing.
And the same thing happened at
Cedar Point last year with the train
track operators, but they were
worse offenders. They created
HUGE bottlenecks on the midways
until ''EVERYONE IS BEHIND THE
YELLOW LINE."

In the words of the great Harry Henninger,
''We're only an AMUSEment park; let's not
take ourselves too seriously!"

C'mon guys, lighten up, a LITTLE!

-rob(who can forsee equal amounts
of good and evil moving into Muskegon,
Michigan. However, a third train and
a block brake, or brakes of any kind
on Shivering Timbers would be
UNFORGIVABLE.)

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michigan can use a premeire Amusement Park!
It's been rumored for years that CF owned land in Michigan and was going to build but, later thought it would be too competive with CP.
Way to go
It's a good strategic move on CP's part.
With two CF parks in my backyard perhaps I won't have to travel more than Two hours anymore.
Does anyone know how large the park is ? How many arches? etc.

I really hope that they do not change the ride operations on the coasters. (Example: Brakes, etc)

Otherwise, other than strict policies, they should do a great job of cleaning up the park.

Just to address these things,
1. Keeps the platform clear and uncluttered so the ride ops can go up and down the train freely. Also eliminates the lost/stolen item liability.

2. I STILL wonder why so many 'enthusiasts' complain about extra restraints, but I guess it's a personal thing...

3. Braking is a terrible *TERRIBLE* thing to do to a woodie, so I agree here...

4.& 5. Well what's the point of having a rule if it's not strickly enforced? If people see other guest being chastized for violating a rule, they are less likely to break it themselves. Conversely, if they see that the policies are "negotiable" then they are more inclined to test the limits.

Anyway, y'all know how I feel about so-called 'corporate' parks, so you can imagine my reaction to this news.

On the plus side, Ghostrider has been running "wide open" since opening. No blocks, no trims. I think that's good news for The Timbers.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
They have been trying to get into the Michigan market for almost thirty years. There were plans to build a park in the Irish Hills when I worked there in the early 1970's. For one reason or another those didn't materialize. It looks like now they have finally succeeded.

For once my father was right with his "Cedar Point owns...." rumors!

How, I still can't believe it... that was one rumor that I thought was destined to remain a "Whopper Of The Week", as Thrillride! would call it.

I see good sides and bad sides to this whole deal, but I will reserve my thoughts until more is released regarding this.

Shivering Timbers, Ghostrider, whats the third???
I don't know which three he's talking about, but the three that come to mind for me are Ghostrider, Shivering Timbers, and Timber Wolf (the often forgotten Summers woodie at WOF).
