I was just thinking about wooden coasters, and I remember how awesome The Villain was, and I realized that CCI is responsible for all the best woodies! The Raven, Ghostrider, The Villain, Shivering Timbers, The Legend, Cheetah (read the review on thrillride.com! this thing looks awesome!), The Boss, Boulder Dash, I mean come on! these guys are awesome! Any other CCI's that you can think of that rank among the best? Lets hear your input!
You forgot the new , amazing, airtime filled cornball express.

I think that just about anybody with any real taste at all will recognize that CCI is hands down, without a doubt, easily the best coaster designer or all time.

CCI is the best in my opinion. Unforntuatley no new CCI's opened up this year at Six Flags parks and only two opened up overall. Apparently (from screamscape so take it how you will) Six Flags is suing CCI over something, so who knows if we will see any more CCI's in a Six Flags park anytime soon.

Hurry up and open Delay-ja Vu!!
Well, for sentimentality, my all time favorite coaster designer is the late Herb Schmeck (formerly of PTC).
That being said... as far as modern coasters go, my most experience with wood comes with GCI (Hershey's Wildcat and Lightning Racer and BGT's Gwasi). These are great coasters and great designs.
However...
Recently I had my first encounter with a CCI coaster... Dutch Wonderland's Sky Princess. Okay, before you all start laughing, let me say this... I was very much impressed. For a coaster of its size (somewhere between a JR. and a small "full size" coaster) it packed a very good and fun ride... even some air on some of the last hops before the mini helix finish. This was CCI's first coaster I believe (built in 1992). If this is an example of their work on this small scale, I hope to soon experience some of their BIG coasters.

CCI founded my passion for wooden coasters. Now I would take a beautiful wooden coaster over a steel anyday. I love the unpredictablity of how one will ride as the environment around it changes. They feel a lot wilder than steel coasters. And their wonderful structure beats out a steels' anyday!
Don't get me wrong, I love steel coasters. But if you were to put a great wooden coaster and a great steel coaster right next to each other, I would pick the wooden!

Right on! I agree 100%. All of my "marathoning" experiences have been on wooden coasters and all but one of those (Lightning Racer) was a CCI.

I may have not rode very many CCI COasters I Think Just the Villian, it is one of the best wooden coasters I ever rode( Great air time ! )
I read the reviews of their coasters..and hands down they are the best wooden coaster Designers ! I can hardly wait to see what they will be putting up at the point soon...

With 8 out of the top 10 (Mitch Hawker's Woodie Poll, 2000) woodies being CCI's I'd say they are doing something right.
I agree, CCI makes the best wooden coasters these days. I have had the priveledge of riding 6 of them so far, I can't wait to ride more!
I have been on Ghostrider over 120 times, it never gets old. I know this count does not break any records, but there is no other ride local to me that I have the desire to ride so often.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
No one is suing anyone. If they were it would be in the trade rags. Even then, just because someone is suing someone else doesn't mean that they stop doing business.

Please don't forget the highly overlooked Excalibur at Fun Town USA in Maine. This is my favorite CCI and my favorite woodie ever! Talk about air time! It also sports a genius layout that is breathless and keeps you guessing. The first half of the ride is the best wooden coaster experience I've ever had. Boulder Dash is second to this ride. Fun Town is out of the way, but it's worth the trip.
I've only been on 3 CCIs, and I loved them all! Pegusus, Zeus, and Cyclops. Even the junior coaster packs a good punch! Not so much for airtime, but for laterals.
Cyclops is all that and a bag of chips, with a few extra negatives thrown in.
Zeus would've cut my leg, I had keys in my pocket that would've scraped me up good on the turnaround if it wasn't for my tin of Altoids (which is now know as the Zues Tin, and shall never be thrown away. It's all bent out of shape.)
CCI knows how to make great coasters. Give me a CCI of any type or a B&M hyper, and I kid you not, I'll take the CCI.

Cyclops. 1900 feet of CCI goodness.

All of my favorite woodies are CCI or GCI. They have become masters at what they do. I really hope to see another one in California soon. But look out for Intamin folks, they will give CCI a run for their money.

There is no such thing as inner peace. There is only nervousness and death.
I think Valleyfair is pushing for a CCI wooden coaster also for 2002 because there cheap to build it may be bigger than Mean Streak.
I agree, CCI is the best. Ghostrider is like nothing I've ever ridden and it's my favorite coaster so far.
My top wooden coaster is Shivering Timbers. And I've only been on 6 CCIs. Gess what. They've all made my personal Top 15. I know that my Top 10 doesn't mean jack to anyone else, but it proves to me that CCI has given me something on every coaster they made that I rode: satisfaction.

I agree with SLFAKE... Herb Schmeck is definitely my favorite coaster designer of all time. That is not to say that CCI is bad- they are, in fact, a terrific company that produces some extraordinary designs. However, I feel that some of Schmeck's coasters are just as good if not better), and the fact that they are so good after being designed so long ago is a testiment to his genius.
I've only ridden The Villian at SFWoA. But I'm hoping to ride the Hurricane at Myrtle Beach Pavillion on my trip to Myrtle Beach. But anyways, The Villian was a pretty good ride. The only CCI I've been on.

Vipe this one is for you. now why would anyone go and try to break the 150 ft barrior once again w a woodie. all woodies that go that high are too big for themsleves. look at all dinns creations in the early nineties. particularly mean streak and hercules. they were great coaster back when they were built. after years, they had to be reprofiled so much that they are just giant wooden kiddie coasters. they offer no real thrills. i say any woodies that go beyond 150 ft are really asking for trouble. u better damn well design that coaster good.
