Slowly dying? You are insane.
Get a grip. You live within a day's drive of a zillion good coasters. Try living in Washington. Or, better yet, Africa. Where they not only have few coasters, but no food!

Ouch. Jiffy, my man, make sure you have something to say before posting. Just don't post to make noise - it won't fly around here.
Granted you posted some thoughts, but geez, you're going to have a hard time finding anyone who agrees with that.
Whether you meant to or not this just reeks of trying to start something.

I feel sorry for you if you have nothing better to do than sit on your ass and criticize me for asking simple questions. Not to mention, looking at my info each time to match the screen names. When I'm as old as you are, I will find much better things to do with my time than look on this site and criticize people for not knowing detailed information on roller coasters.
I am ok -
All angst aside - really, most people read forums for weeks or months before posting. Do that, get a solid base of what this site is about, and learn the basic facts. Then you'll be able to start and contribute to good discussions.

These forums have a serious "community" feel. It's not just a bunch of people spouting off random noise. When someone new shows up, folks tend to look for info. When two completely out of place posts show up right after each other, it's not hard to figure out what's going down. No one was really being rude. We're actually trying to help out.
Welcome to the boards, this is how things tend to run around here. We're just trying to help you fit in. The knee jerk reaction of anger was totally unnecessary. Chill and before you know it you'll be having intelligent conversation with the best of them.
Unless, of course, you just want to spout noise with no consistency or personal sense, then you'll last approximately 20 minutes here and be forced to run to some other forum.

OK, I tried to be nice, but it just made our friend even more inhospitable.
Why do you keep coming back?
edit: I highly doubt that my life is less "real" than yours. I'm sure you hold down a career, have your own family, own a house, have established credit, have real responsibilties.
(sheesh, I'm embarassed that I even dignified that with a response)

Now now, let's not start any 'reality' debates.
chris, who's sure that 'I'm an ok jiffypop's' life is every bit as 'real' as Den's. ;)

If the park was slowly dying it wouldn't of re-done the entrance, added Pipeline Peak, Scobby Doo's Haunted Mansion, new simulator movies, Flying Super Saturator, Carolina Boardwalk, Ricochet, and re-tracked Thunder Road. Now they are adding Nick Central, re-doing the flume ride, and adding Runaway Reptar. It may not be "thrill rides" but it is nice to see them making the park look nicer and adding new rides as well. Carowinds is a family park and what we are getting next year is better than getting nothing at all.
First of all, I wasn't trying to start anything. And I'm actually just a 14-year-old kid trying to find answers about roller coasters on this supposedly "interesting" website. But, unfortunately, now I have to change my screen name for the third time so people like Den don't stalk me down.
And - I don't need anyone telling me to look around and post when I know what this website is all about. I'll post what I want answers for. I wasn't being rude, I was just simply telling Den that he doesn't need to criticize every little coaster detail that I don't know.
Show me where I criticized you for not knowing some little detail.
Apparently you only come to this site for selfish reasons ("I'll post what I want answers for"). This isn't a Q&A service, it's a community. So you don't, in fact, know what it's all about.
If you think I have the desire to stalk a 14-year-old kid who lives 1,000 miles from me, you are out of your mind. I've got real things to worry about.

Since I'm someone who is bored at work right now, I'll try to get this thread back on track :)
While I can understand some angst about Carowinds not adding a big thrill ride since 1999, I would hardly call it a dying park. Look at it this way:
Top Gun (1999)
Super Saturator (2000)
Ricochet (2002)
Reptar whatever-its-called (2003)
Four coasters since 1999, regardless of whether they are thrillers or family rides, is nothing to scoff at. Look at Six Flags Astroworld- they have not had a new coaster since 1999's Vekoma SLC, and next year, they are LOSING a coaster.
If it were my home park, I'd be wishing for the B&M speed coaster that has been rumored for years, but I would be happy with anything as long as its coaster-related and brings in families that spend money so that the park can eventually justify the addition of larger coasters.

Don't forget to vote for your favorite wooden coasters @ http://www.geocities.com/wcoasterpoll - the polls are open until November 30th!
And to piggyback on Rob A's post I'll add this:
All those families Carouwinds has been catering to the last couple of years are gonna pave the way for something really huge some year, and they're doing it with their wallets.
Just be patient ;-)

Den - If you don't care about criticizing me, then why are you making this a big deal? You could have just politely answered the question. No rude comments - nothing.
I don't care what you do at work. The point is - you get some kind of satisfaction tormenting me for things I was unaware of. And I consider that pathetic.
About my post - Moosh, you're probably right. I think they are going to develope something huge in the coming years. And Rob, the past three years, they've barely managed to scrap up some kind of ride - and all they have money for right now is small coasters. But I'm just saying.. we don't get many amusement parks around here.. It just makes me mad to see places like CP getting hypercoasters practically every year, and down here in the Carolinas we get crappy Ricochet or Runaway Reptar.

Well, it's not like I was gonna reach under that huge pavement-rolling machine to get my wallet back OUT from there...I mean, I can replace a wallet....but my hands, those are with me for good...(I sincerely hope)...;)
