Not necessarily true as evidenced by SFDLdan's experience.

It should also be on the CD, but since I don't have RCT3 I can't tell you where on the disc to find it.
If you've installed that, and the game complains that it can't find some necessary component of DirectX, then your video card/chip doesn't provide some functionality that the game requires, or you need to update your drivers. *** Edited 12/28/2004 8:34:57 PM UTC by GregLeg***

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."
I think Greg's right - it's a direct X issue with your Vid Card, not with Direct X being on your PC.
stop waisting postin space and give the facts here
Sorry you couldn't read between the lines.
More clearly - your brand new PC probably can't handle the game at this point. (See Greg's input for further clarification)

Problem is, it doesn't work that way. It's not the newness of the body, but the engine under the hood that matters! It seems like people want cheap computers that still have everything. That's just not reality folks.
I dunno. I think it is reasonable to expect that the new machines would be capable of efficient (though not superb) gaming. I mean, I know this is not the case since I have done much research the past year since I've gotten interested in PC building. But I dont think this is an unreasonable expectation.
On a personal note, this is why I havent gotten too deep into PC gaming. Besides the fact that I prefer a controller in my hand rather than mouse and keyboard, there seems to always be a constant pressure to upgrade. Like right now, if one wants a really good Doom3 experience, they pretty much have to get a $200+ vid card. Why do that when I can spend $150 and get an Xbox and play essentially the same game? It's weird. A pentium III based comp can handle most things that I do with my comp (Office, Internet) but the minute you want to play a game phbbbttt! I guess that's why I've been primarily a console gamer ('cept for RCT and Starcraft).

At least you've got the game & now all you need is the proper system on which to run it,I too am desperate to install my copy as well but until I get a new PC that meets the requirements I'm just gonna have to hang on to it & wait...in the mean time there's always RCT2,now if only I could get my copy of TT to install again.
