Can't get direct x to install

well i got RCT3 for christmas. i can install th game but when i come to play the game it says i haven't got the right direct x. In the manual it says "click yes to acceot the DirectX 9.0 license agreement. This will then launch the DirectX installer." The yes box never appears so i can't play the game have u got any tips
Does the dialog in question have a huge scrollable area filled with text, and a Yes button at the bottom that's disabled? If so, scroll through all the license agreement text, and the Yes button should become enabled.

Barring that, let's see. What operating system are you running?

If all else fails, you might want to try downloading the latest version, DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

If you can't get either to install, I'm willing to bet your system doesn't meet the installation requirements.

Good luck with RCT3 (It won't be long before you go back to RCT2 out of frustration)!

Thanks guys it really helped. Now i can play RCT3, i think. I've been stressin' bout not been able too play it

Well I just got the game myself & of course it won't install(not suprisingly) due to a missing DLL file.....most likely due to not meeting the system requirements.

I'll just hold onto my copy until we get a new PC(if we ever do) & continue playing RCT2 for the time being.

Well id first off like to give a hi-di-do ho to everyone even though it seems im a newbie i've been a very avid vistor to reading the forums and the the site for the past few years now I just never had a urge to join up. But im glad I finally have :)

But this is pretty funny I myself just got RCT3 for X-mas yesterday, and boy howdy was I also stressen out. I had the same problem Coasterjoni had. I was able to install the game perfectly and then the windows says im not able to play cause of the video card,(direct X) imo, it never gave me the opition as well to install it even when it does say it in the manual. And the thing is I know my computer is capable of running it because we just got a amazing new computer as a gift as well so i was totally baffled. I know for a fact this computer has all the requirments to play the game so Im gonna try and download Direct X9 cross my fingers and see what happens.

Well i tryed to download the DirectX 9.0c but it wouldn't work i'd download it and it would be on the computer put it still didn't work. I'm stresin' out so i'm gonna get an x box when all the shops get some stock

SFDLdan are or have you downloaded the DirectX from the link that Fun has put down. Because thats the one i used and it didn't work. But thanks for helping Fun
Yeah I downloaded it and installed it, and it still didn't help my cause. Im still trying to figure out what I can do, one of my resorts is to go to Best Buy, where my parents bought the computer, grab the game and ask one of the associates, what do i need to do to get it to work on the one we bought from them. I can see myself having to more than likly buy one of these better ATI graphic cards. But I'm looking to get some input from people here that could give some tips on whats ultimatly best to do.

Fun's link works. What type of video card do you have SFDLdan?

I was able to download and install DirectX9 from the link that Fun posted. Yet i still got hosed when it came to me trying to run the game i got the same window pop up that says my video/ grahpic card don't meet the minimum requirment to play. Honestly I dont know where to look though to find out what sort of card i have this computer im trying to play it on is brand spankin new my parents bought it on the 23rd just 3 days ago. I've looked through all the manuals that came with the computer but can't find any info on it?. Unless its in some easy place and I just over looked it?.

Sorry the DirectX download didn't help... I don't really know how to fix the problem, but I thought that might be worth a try.

What you will want to do in order to find your computer's video/graphic card:

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and then Display. On the "Settings" tab, click advanced. The next dialog will pop-up, and now click "Adapter." Copy the information that appears in the "Adapter Information" in your reply so we can figure out what exactly you've got (or don't) under the hood.

EDIT: I assume you are using XP normal view, as apposed to XP Classic view, in which case the above directions may be a little off. Either way, navigate to the Display Options to find out what you have.

Chip Type - VIA/S3G UnichromeIGP

DAC Type - Internal

Memory Size - 64MB

Adaptor String - VIA/S3G UnichromeIGP

Bios Information - 98.D.2.00.19

Now i know stuff about computers but when it comes down to this really technically stuff I not to knowledgable about it.

the same thing happened to me. it eventually fixed itself after several reinstalls. from all the techs i've talked to, no one is certain what the issue is. Keep in mind, when this happened, my MOH would give an odd msg about 3DDRAW (or something like that), which too, went away.

dan: You have the dreaded IGP or Integrated Graphics. You're most likey gonna need to get a dedicated graphics card to be able to play the game.
