I really like what Magic Mountain did to Colossus. It was a great ride before, but they really made it great with the renovation from Rocky Mountain. The ride looks crazy and was wondering on your thoughts of doing this to Gemini. Let's face it, Gemini is getting a little long in the tooth. I realize Gemini is actually a steel coaster on wood frame, but could it be done and would it be interesting with the layout? Any thoughts on this? It would be a great way for CP to refresh a ride. Given what they did to Mantis, this seems like a direction they might go? Instead of building a new coaster, why not bring new life into the Gemini for a future season.
We could have the same convo about Blue Streak or Mine Ride, but I think those are a little too classic to touch.
Mean Streak has never been my favorite and I feel like its a rough ride. Perhaps thats another option?
What would be Cedar Point's incentive to do anything to Gemini? It still draws 1.3 million riders a year, making it the seventh most popular attraction in the park (2013 figures).

Can they? Sure. Will they? Bet not.
Welcome to CoasterBuzz, but I think you'd like to pose this question over at PointBuzz where a lively conversation around this kind of subject is a guaranteed sure thing.
I'd much rather see this done to mean streak. Mean streak has much more potential for a great rmc. I know I'm not the only one who thinks this.
Ridership is a little bit apples to oranges because Gemini has ludicrous capacity. A rider taking awalk on wait for Gemini isn't the same thing as a rider taking a 30 minute wait for Gatekeeper. That said, it does have its place in the park as a ride you can almost always get on with minimal waiting. I think MS is a much more likely candidate.

Please tell me you had to look that up.
Hi
kpjb, I did...but I was fairly confident it was in the top ten before doing so.

I don't think Cedar Fair wants to make RMC coasters. I don't know why. I think they just like GCI.

Leave Gemini alone, it's just fine as it is and even thinking about touching Blue Streak is total blasphemy.

Gemini is fine.....they just need to replace those awful trains (ditto for Magnum).
B&M trains for magnum. Rmc trains for gemini?
Mean Streak is the better candidate. I don't know a single person that still enjoys Mean Streakāit just looks cool.
I haven't ridden it in a few years, but I still like it, because the ride is long.

Don't touch Magnum's trains.
No, I don't suggest converting Gemini. If CP is considering RMC's services, it should be on Mean Streak.
If you rode the original Texas Giant and have now ridden the RMC converted Giant, you'll agree. The difference is night and day. The old Texas Giant was brutal, rough enough to be a "one and down" for the day. The NTG is glass smooth, allowing multiple rides. I could ride this for a full hour of ERT.

. . . . . no intentions to. If I never have to ride that shaky mess again I'll be good.
I liked Mean Streak when I rode it in 2006. Rode it twice in a row because it was a walkon actually. I'm sick of RMC remaking roller coasters. I like their custom builds but I don't like the loss of the wooden coaster feeling for the rebuilds. Give mean streak some RMC topper track and it'll be fine.

I had my smoothest ride ever on Mean Streak last time I was there. I ride it every time I go. It's not a very inspired layout or design, but I love a good wooden coaster.
Every time I read that it's smooth again I ride it and end up with a boring ride and a terrible headache. I've fallen for this too many times and won't fall for it again! :)
We're all entitled to our opinions though. Having ridden Iron Rattler I am on board with a Mean Streak transformation.
