Because that's what they're legally bound to do.
This is sad though I would have loved to visist. I was looking at some pics and the park does looke extremely nice.
I wonder if they are doing anything for the Evacuee from NO because the park is right next to the center.
Thanks,
DMC
I understand that they are legally bound to do that. I wouldn't want to invest in a company that doesn't evaluate what is good for the stockholders. Its simply disappointing to see that mentality at the corporate level.

Hmm, this has me wondering if either Batman The Escape and/or Serial Thriller (maybe as a BTR) were in the plans to move to Great Escape for their flagging (along with other rides here). I'm very interested in what SF plans to do with the coasters, Diablo Falls, and SWAT. Who has room for XLR-8 (SFDL or SFA)? Where would there be interest in Greezed Lightnin' (EV or WL)? Will the Cyclone stay in Texas (FT)?+Danny
us astroworld fans don't need to hear about that :(

SFA next?
Sorry I don't see this park going. It's right in Snyder's backyard. Plus its my homepark. I will cringe if this park closes and my new homepark is PKD. I just can't do the 2hr. drive there, even if i wanted to. Plus attendance wise is very well, only 15 miles from Washington, DC.
Anyways its sad to hear a member of the family is leaving. Though I knew that this will happen to any of the low attended SF parks. SFAW will always be missed by enthusiasts, Houston GP, and Six Flags. *** Edited 9/12/2005 11:41:11 PM UTC by SF Critic***
In the pure fantasy mode, I would love it we could get rid of Tower of Doom and swap it out for the much higher Dungeon Drop. Maybe Serpent could find a home at Knoebels, since it's a coaster that seems right up their alley.
Whatever happens, I'd love to see if someone buys the Chance Yo-Yo with the guns intact!
Sorry dude, but when your arguments all basically come off of driving distance for a possible bidder (note possible) and yourself, it doesn't lend much credibility to you. Come back and try again when you can come up with something better than high land values, high crime and market saturation.

I wouldn't be so sure. Do you know the value of the land SFA sits on?
However, I, like I-Fan, would welcome XLR-8.
Overall this doesn't surprise me. The nail in the coffin was being forced to close Labor Day weekend. So, instead of one park being closed Labor Day weekend (SFNO), SFAW was closed as well. Bottom line, SFI lost a bunch of revenue Labor Day weekend in addition to the expense of having to recover a water logged park.
My question? Could the rides as SFAW be moving to SFNO? *** Edited 9/13/2005 12:15:00 AM UTC by coasterguts***
A day at the park is what you make it!
