Busch Gardens Williamsburg 2025

If we are talking about a literal second movie there are some obvious ones like The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens Terminator 2, and The Dark Knight.

Vater:

I thought Rocky II was better when I was a kid, then as an adult I realized I was wrong.

I didn't realize until I was an adult that each movie includes a direct carry-over from the previous film in the beginning of each sequel. Balboa (Rocky 6?) is (to me) an outlier where a franchise's later films can still be solid.

Star Trek 2 is a great example. Hadn't thought of that. Weird; now that I think about it I saw all of the Star Trek sequels before I ever saw the original.

I'm just waiting for...

Back to the Spider-Man movie sidetrack...

Looking at Rotten Tomatoes, Spider-Man 2 ties No Way Home at 93%. Only the two Spiderverse movies score higher than that. I agree with those scores.

Tom Holland and Disney have done a lot of good in the Spider-Man franchise. Adding Marvel movie crossover co-stars to the Spider-Man movies, Like Iron Man and Doctor Strange, have made them so much fun.

And the Spiderverse movies have the most imaginative animation I've ever seen. They are in a league of their own. There has nothing been anything like them.

But watch Spider-man 2 again sometime. It has been called the best superhero move by fans since it came out. The train saving scene is one of the best superhero moments of all time. Doctor Octopus is a great villain. The return of Doc Ock is part of the reason No Way Home was so good.

Sorry about being so off-topic. I'm a huge Spider-Man fan.

As much as I like Spider-Man 2, I don’t think it’s the best superhero movie of all time, nor even the best Spuder-man movie of all time, personally I would rank the top five as:

  1. The Dark Knight-Just a master class in suspense and intrigue, Ledger’s Joker is perfect, and it’s such a roller coaster ride.
  2. Spider-man Into the Spider Verse-I was utterly blown away by this movie the first time I saw this, the way it’s able to introduce a Spider-Man no one in the general population had heard of before and do a multiverse movie while still being amazing and thrilling I thought was impossible. The animation is amazing too
  3. Spider-Man 2-You’ve covered its good points well
  4. Black Panther-If it wasn’t for that terrible 3 act fight this movie might have jumped a few spots because Act 1 and 2 of this movie is probably the best 2/3rds of a superhero movie.
  5. Iron Man-It gets taken for granted today and yes it has some what would become tired Marvel tropes in it but they weren’t tropes when this movie was made. This movie, like Spider-Verse, had to introduce a hero most of the general population didn’t know, and not only that had to make a egotistical, womanizing billionaire likeable.

Your lists are all invalid because they are missing The Boys. ;)

I'm not a fan of Superhero stuff especially Marvel, but must recommend the Netflix Marvel series Daredevil, Luke Cage, and the first season of Jessica Jones. They were absolutely amazing. Vincent D'Onofrio (Private Pyle) and David Tennant played incredible villains. I couldn't make it through Punisher or The Defenders though.

Also, do not forget about the first movie of the MCU franchise, Howard The Duck.

Last edited by Tommytheduck,

Last I checked we were ranking movies not shows. The Boys are great though.

What about Invincible on Prime? I love it.

Again, sorry for the sidetrack. I hope I didn't kill this thread.

They'll just resurrect it for the sequel.

I want to like it, I feel like I like it, but I just don’t know about it.

I like the idea. The track on the backside is upside down in the picture. So much effort, and yet...

It's hard for me to get excited about this. I miss Big Bad Wolf a lot. And that suspended kiddy coaster model at every park is fun, yet small and childish.

And I didn't think I would like Big Bear Mountain because of its size, but it turned out to be really fun. Not the same kind of coaster, but the same size.

So I am waiting to ride this to see if it is worthy of my love. Looks lame because it's nothing like the old Big Bad Wolf.

Are guests even going to be able to find this coaster?

So many thoughts about it. I don't think I will make a special trip to BGW to find out. My last visit last spring was not worth the money. $38 for one serving of cold chicken and cold fries. $9 for a bottle of water. No bins at the coasters and a forced locker policy. ($$$)

If there's any theming beyond the train design and the sign I will be pleasantly surprised.

Well, there's the Bavarian village, which was about 95% of the theming for the original.

I'm sure the coaster will be fine. The marketing for it is brilliant because everyone loved its predecessor, but its biggest problem is the name and theme because everyone will compare it to its predecessor.

I realized I need to get back to Busch Gardens. Not for this specifically, but there are 3 other coasters I haven't done; last time I was there was Verbolten's opening year.

That was my childhood. Not only did we have the same name, I looked almost exactly like that kid. If I had a dollar for every time someone said "he likes it, hey Mikey!" to me, I'd be retired now.

Until I was a teenager...then people said I looked like Marc Price (Skippy) from Family Ties, and I suddenly longed to be like the Life cereal kid again.

I was always compared to Messy Marvin and Dennis the Menace when I was a kid.

I earned the nickname "Harry Potter" from my school bus driver because of my hair and round glasses. I miss him, he was awesome.

Counting down the days until I'm back at Cedar Point, the one and only place to be.
