B:TDK missing a couple bolts

Six Flags New England does not have a BM invert. Either your at the wrong park, or wrong picture. Double check.

^Already been discussed and dealt with....the picture was included merely to illustrate where the bolts in question were located.

Probably c-punk's explanation makes the most sense. B&M are control freaks... ;)

Losing bolts is one things, but it's really bad when a coaster loses it nuts.

Oh No!!!!!! What do we do?

Come on! No one, not even Six Flags would endanger a rider's safety by overlooking missing bolts.

Yeah, it's stupid to bring this up because no amusement park operator is ever guilty of overlooking anything, right? You obviously are a very trusting person.

Also, if you were to notify the park's office, you would probably get some sacastic, generic answer to your concern, and you will hear some laughing as you walk away.

Really? Why don't you tell me what park would be guilty of dismissing a customer's concern over a potential safety issue like that? If that's the case, I promise you'll never catch me at that park again.

I don't know about bolts on coasters, but I've suspected that some people here are missing a few screws. :)

August '99 - Gillian's Wonderland Pier - 6th & Boardwalk Ocean City, New Jersey - 2 deaths - IIRC news articles stated that there were several complaints made about cars "slipping" backwards on the lift. Also IIRC the failing parts were machined locally and not to manufacturer's specs. *** Edited 7/25/2007 8:06:51 PM UTC by jshorerzd***

^ Agreed. To the best of my knowledge and understanding, Gillian's Wild Wonder's anti-rollback failure was due to the "catches" being machined from non-approved material. I may be mistaken, and have heard a variety of "answers" from multiple sources, but the most plausible seems to be that the ARBs were machined from aluminum, and weren't sturdy enough to handle the weight of the cars on the lift.

When the ride travelled to Magic Springs, (where it works well, despite being heavily-overbraked) the ride got a THOROUGH going-over, and the ARBs were replaced...

^All or parts of the above are NOT guaranteed accurate... ;)

I think everyone's being way to hard on the guy as well. On topic though if you look at the supports to SUF right under the flat roll into the final brakes at SFGADv near the base there are a few bolts missing as well. They aren't lying on the ground but they were definatly missing in 05. *** Edited 7/25/2007 8:51:26 PM UTC by OP AWESOME***
I woudn't be concerned about a couple extra holes in a track. If I see nuts and bolts lying on the ground near it.

ID RUN!

Not fair, Gonch isn't even here to defend himself.

As a structural engineer, i would think bolts were intended to be there. A symetrical bolting pattern is much preferred in an application like that because it eliminates eccentric loading on the connection.

I also find it hard to believe that with the daily visual inspections that "should" be performed, that these missing bolts would go unnoticed.

Did you notice if there were any welds in the area that may be taking the place of those bolts?

I hope someone from SFNE reads this thread and can at least have this looked into. I would hate to see anyone get hurt.
