I was at PKI last Wednesday (8-7) and also Monday (8-12) I rode The Beast both days and there was one thing I did notice that was a HUGE difference. In those 5 days brakes were added to the first drop of The Beast. They are located near the top of the drop. and were on rather high. I don't know why PKI chose to add brakes and with less then 2 weeks of everyday opperation. If anyone knows why PKI did add brakes please post.

Your not a newbie, but I don't think it's true, they would have to test it with the breaks and such. I seriously doubt it though. Shaggy, Sean, anyone know for sure?

I can further report that there were no first drop brakes on the Beast on Sunday, August 11.
I just love to look at that wonderful brakeless first drop as we are cresting lift 2 and as we pull into the brake run!

Adding an additional unit somewhere on the ride would not require readjustment of subsequent units because the braking force is proportional to the speed of the train. So if the train is moving more slowly when it hits the second hill, it will simply reach its target speed more rapidly.
Hopefully I'll be able to check out this rumor later this week.

The Beast has added a brake on the first drop. I was there on Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 13th and 14th) and rode in the front seat both days. The brake is long and silver like the other ones placed throughout the ride. I'm assuming it's a magnetic brake. If you people don't believe this go and ride it for yourself in the front.
It's not a big deal though because I didn't even notice the brake until I saw it when I sat in the front.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! My dikfus.
