Thorpe have started construction on their '03 B&M multi element inverter, anyone got any more info??-see www.thorpeparkguide.com for the constr. pix...

ROFL, colin. Here in the States, they won't even let us know what's coming in '02. Save for CF, we have very little in the way of "official" announcements. You guys on the other side of the pond however, have virtually ALL the info on '02 already, and there are LOADS of goodies coming your way. If I sound a bit jealous, I am...LOL.

I thought Thorpe is getting a 10 inversion Intamin. Now they are getting a B&M also? What is Thorpe's competition? It must be pretty strong. How close is Heide Park?
Rollergator - I think us Europeans know pretty much every bit of info bout every 2002 project here in Europe, from AIR, to Silverstar to Colossus to most others too. And you're right, Its funny why some parks would reveal their offical press releases yet for their rides, cause I believe we are still waiting to hear from SFNE,SFOG, and various other parks reguarding their offical 2002 plans
SFGA2001 - Thorpe are getting Colossus this year for 2002(The 10 Looper) and then next year, they will stun everyone by annoucing a B&M Inverter for the 2003 season, No offical work on how many inversions or the themeing yet though.
Thorpe doesnt really have any competiton, and the only reason Thorpe is suddenly getting these big rides is to introduce Thorpe into the Thrill Rides World, thorpe Park has always been more of a kiddie Park, and it was only when Tussards brought the Park has Thorpe delivered some Killer Rides. Firstly Tussards Gave Thorpe Tidal Wave in 2000, then in 2001, they gave them 3 Top Flat Thrill Ride, 2002 will bring Colossus, and 2003 will bring a B&M Inverted. And as for 2004 and beyond, who knows what they might get ;)
rollergator-Best of it all is 2006!-Altons' SW6? Wont B any sooner cause its the 2nd hotel next, then the water park..
SFGA2001-dunno if u'd class Chesington as competition 4 Thorpe, as they're both Tussauds' attractions, but thats the nearest anyway.
Paul-noway will Thorpe get another large ride'04..and I reckon Ches will go for the animals more in the next couple of seasons...any thoughts?

I just find it interesting that they have already broken ground for a coaster to be opened in 2003. This is a very long construction lead time. Is half the coaster dug into the ground like at Alton Towers? It is rare in the US to have a coaster construction time over 6 months. Unless of course you buy a troublesome prototype. Then you run 6 months behind schedule while the manufacturer tries to make it work.
The only coaster that i can think of that was built as of late that had that long a construction schedule was SOB. Of course, the size of that project definately warranted it.

Watching the construction process of X on Twisted rails, it only took about 3-4 months to erect the monster. The delays were that they STARTED LATE and had prototypical problems AFTER CONSTRUCTION.

My other car is a Giovanola!
There's def gonna be some ground excavation, just wouldn't be Tussauds otherwise......

Stealth was built a year before it opened (and on purpose) - I think that is some kind of record.
Also in the UK (if you've read the article by John Wardley, the guy who designed nemesis & oblivion)they have limits on how high they can build roller coasters. at alton towers, you're not supposed to be able to see the coasters from outside the park.

But those limits are unique to each park. Obviously, the zoning around Blackpool is much different, then say, the zoning around Alton.

Thorpe park is allowed to build up to 100 feet high, Collossus (10 looper) is just that -100 foot tall. Alton Towers can not build anything over tree height, that is why Air, nemesis and oblivion use great use of tunnels and holes in the ground. I can't imagine why they are preparing the ground already, except to whet the appetite of all those people who will come to the park to ride Collossus and get them back for the next year to ride this other new coaster. Great publicity.
they have to prepare a lot of groundwork at thorpe because some areas of the construction site i.e access roads, darinage etc have to be completed by the time the 2002 seasons starts on mar 22. this has to be done so that other work can be safely carried out throughout open season.
Dang, I lost the page/site. It said that this ride would feature a never seen before element. Guess we'll have to wait for a year to find out. :)

I think that is really a rumour at present, and its hard to work out if it will be True or not. However early rumours have been going around as to what it might be if it does happen.
Some people think it will be the first inverted with Interlocking Corkscrews, Does any other Inverted have this element?? I was thinking and couldnt think of one???
Or I have heard it will be the first inverted to have track go under the station, Apparently, the Station will be Raised, and the track will come out of the station, Turn around and dive under the station for a cool element leading to the lift hill.
The Coaster as a whole should be very good, Cant Wait till its built, I will have a B&M Inverted to ride which will be less than 1hr drive from my house :)
That's weird. I do that under the station element on almost all my coasters in RCT.

inversions confirmed:
vertical loop
zero G roll
corkscrew
corkscrews
there will be a world first on this ride, but it is only a world first for an inverted coaster. may people believe it to be interlocking corkscrews. the ride will NOT be launched as many people believe it would be.
and what someone was saying about the track curving below the station, that is correct.
there are interlocking wingovers already. Dueling Dragons has interlocking wingovers. and I didn't find that particular element all that exciting. I could barely see the other train. its cool to watch from off the ride, though.

There's a big difference between interlocking corckscrews on 2 different coasters, and interlocking corkscrews on one.
Not that interlocking corkscrews on a inverted is going to be exactly earth shattering.
