B&M Official site on the way (FINALLY!)

You should have asked them for season passes for life to every park they have a coaster at. :) I think that'd be a fair trade...
What if someone should own, lets say, intaminag.com. Do you think Intamin would want that?

Also, what if I registered coasterbuzzz.com?

Here is a thought, what would a B&M site have that you wouldn't be able to find on any coaster site right now? I mean, the fansites have tons of pictures and such. Also, most enthusiasts know the different types of B&M rides that are there. B&M doesn't seem to have any problems selling rides, they are well known throughout the industry. I really dont see how a website would benefit them since parks contact them directly and know their products already.

The amusement industry is small. Everyone knows each other. If you want to build a coaster, you already know who B&M is, and you know what they're capable of. They don't need a Web site. It would be a total waste of money.

You can't register coasterbuzz.com because it's already registered (duh). However, if you registered something similar that infringed on my trademark, I'd sue you because the courts move faster than ICAAN.

They don't personally check that info e-mail anyways. You can try to send them an e-mail but I doubt very seriously you would get a response. They do have personal e-mails, but of course they are not listed anywhere.. not even the IAAPA member directory!

Jeff: he said he'd register coasterbuzzz.com. that's got three z's. I don't know if that would infringe on your trademark or not. what if it was coasterbuzz.net? I wonder if that would work? I mean, it works for whitehouse.com. the only thing I don't know is if the white house is a trademark and that's why those people can get away with it.

uh oh, sounds like someone has a case of the mondays.

From my understanding in dealing with Internet Law even if you have a site that is close to another company's trademarked name you're ok. Examples of these cases would be ToysRUs Vs ToysRGus.com & one of the earliest domain battles over the 3M domain. (You'll note that the 3M that we're familiar with now has 3M.com but they did have to pay for it.)

Not even close. You'd lose if it's anything similar unless you happen to have content about wax toilet seals or something else unrelated. Better read up on your case law.

In 3M's case, you're right, the two different companies were completely unrelated, but in the ToysRGus case (which made CNET headlines a few years back) the two products were very similar.

Correct me if I am wrong but if I were to register coasterbuzz.net and it's content was devoted to the little disks you set your drinks on would that not be legit?

As long as you dont take away Jeffs business and/ or do not claim to be Jeff, and don't use it as a roller coaster page your technicaly not squatting. Although you selling soda coasters probably would be cutting it close.

So you believe that you are studying us, then kindly explain why you are the ones trapped in your seats.

Now just because they registered this domain name means they are going to put up a site? Look whats come of their other domains. Nothing. It could be set up for email only, or jsut so they can protect their name.

Nothing will come of this. You know what happens when you ASS/U/ME.

b&m do check there email and they check it often.

After writeing an over the top groveling email along with some quesitons i got a letter in the mail from them with my brosures and questions answered postmarked a day later. It is signed by walter bolliger and it is a custom letter. it is not at all like the others i have seen from them that my friends have. (I asked about getting into the industry and such and walter was happy to give me a page about it :-)

Heh, anybody remember when coasters2k.com came out with their impressive line of coasters earlier this year? That would probably be the only way around something like coasterbuzz.net without having any roller coaster content.

Actually you people kind of have it wrong. Take rollercoaster.com (i dont know whats there just an example). Someone else could have a site rollercoaster.net (which im sure exists). These could be different sites that are both dedicated to coasters. If Jeff wants to make sure no one woudl do as something as stupid as buying coasterbuzzz.com, then he could buy it and guarentee it his, although that would also be stupid. Anyhow, if a domain is avaliable, you can take it. Trust me, i've been working with this stuff for over 4 years now.

4 years? Wow, you must really know then.

A suggestion for the future. State your facts, and do not try to gain trust by statements like this. People only look at these self promoting statements as fluff, and might be less likely to trust your word.

People who know do not have to qualify themselves.

I havent been dealing with DNS that long, but I do know that an ICANN dispute is costly ($1200) and usually takes a couple months.

If you're on the receiving end of a dispute, it's free unless you want more than one person to make the ruling.
