B&M Official site on the way (FINALLY!)

www.bolliger-mabillard.com has been a B&M fansite for quite some time. My last attempt to load that site turned up a blank page. Not a 404 error, not a message saying there is no such domain, but a blank page.

I went to www.betterwhois.com to check out if the registration info changed. And to my suprise, B&M now owns the domain and we can assume those two awesome Swiss dudes are putting up a website. Here's the registration info from betterwhois. (Looks like Mr. Bolliger gets top billing here too!)

Oh man, I can't wait! I bet the webmaster of the fansite got paid A LOT to give up that domain. What a lucky devil. Anyways, I can't wait to see the site go up.

I wish I would have had that registered. Prolly 5 digits at least. Very cool.

Hope they have some cool stuff on there.

Actually, I was just talking to somebody and apparently the guy who had the domain before got nothing for it. B&M said that it was their name...

Wow, if that did happen I'd feel bad for him and 5 figures sounds about right if he did get money for it.

I'd bet he got nothing. It was a great fansite but also trademark infringement.

Not really; doesn't somebody own zamperla.com on here?

Its not a trademark infringement as long as he wasn't squatting the domain then its perfectly legal. If he didn't get reimbursed by B&M then he let their lawyers scare him for nothing.

If they want the domain, and had the trademark before it was registered, they can claim it. That is the law.

I do not know much about domains and the such. But, dont you have to renew the domain every now and again? If so, has anyone ever thought that maybe B&M actually beat the old domain owner to renewing it? It's just a thought. I have no clue how domain registration works.

It would be very unlikely but entirely possible. I think that the webmaster always kept up on that stuff, though. Too bad he isn't here to tell us the real story.

If that did happen. The guy/girl would be very mad at himself/herself for procrastinating. I think what happened was that they offered a sum of somewhere near $2000 and he/she took it. Because all the original domain owner really wanted was an official site with lots of content in the first place.
That site never really had that much content in the first place, really... Not many pictures; sure, he had stats but a website is more than just stats.

B&M has had "bmdesign.ch" registered for quite some time before this one and they still didn't place a website on it. I don't know if this is an indication of a website in the works. Trust me, if parks want to get in touch with them, they definitely know how to do so.

Also, B&M are known for being very giving when it comes to things like this. I know one person that wrote an article about B&M in a magazine, sent them a copy, and received a $1,000 check in the mail shoortly thereafter.

The guy who had the domain got exactly nothing, because ICANN gave it to B&M per their dispute. Squatters don't get anything this day and age (though the guy who had it was a fan, and certainly not a squatter).

The owner of that domain told everyone about it at Coastersims. Yeah, B&M came across it and had it taken down because it's under their name. I'm not sure he's going to put his stuff back up. That was a nice site, though. Too bad bmdesign.ch doesn't actually put something on their site. I'm wondering why they wouldn't, either? All the major companies have websites now that display their products. Maybe B&M is just that_well_known.

The more you can't have the more you want. Is this some kind of 21st century marketing campaign?

I didn't get anything for it. I didn't fight the dispute because I didn't want to deal with their lawyers. I could have won if I had put any effort in to the cause, according to ICANN, but I didn't so it's their's now. What irritates me the most is that there isn't a site up there now and I predict there won't be one for a while.

One more thing, they have owned www.bolligermabillard.com for over two years now. No site. Doesn't that say something?

I implore everyone NOT to send them annoying emails.
