B&M crashes

I actually think *few* of the B&M inverts have these gates. In fact, the only invert that sticks out in my mind as having the gates is Raptor. I think someone *told* me they are on the Dragons @ IOA as well. But I really dont remember them on the B:TRs I've ridden (GAm, GAdv, StL) or Great Bear (I didnt sit in the front on Alpie so who knows).
Both the B:TR's I have ridden, as well as Raptor, have the gates.

SFGRAMBoy, the gates block the open part of the front of the station, where the train exits to climb the lift hill.  As the floor drops down, the gate swings 90 degrees down and forward, so you pass over it.  On the floorless rides, the gate splits in the middle and swings open as the floor slides away.

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."

I do remeber Mantis's rollback when it first opened.......The Hulk is the only coaster that i know so far that hasnt broken down.
SFGAm's Batman doesn't have the gate. I'd guess it's because it was the first, and they didn't think of it. I doubt it really needs it though, it would be hard to fall off unless you tried to.

Does anyone know if Montu has these gates? I've never seen them before, not even in pictures or on TV shows.

Trust me, at some point since it opened, it has broken down.  Coasters are machines that are built by human beings and they will break down, no matter how perfect they might seem.

Hasn't Hulk had problems with the launch failing?

Well, all of the B:TR's go right into the lift out of the station, right?

Raptor has a 180 degree turnaround before the lift.  The Great Bear doesn't go straight into the lift, and neither does at least on of the Dueling Dragons.  How about Montu?  Are there gates there?

Maybe there's some correlation, or maybe it's an option that a park can choose to add.

I remember seeing the gate on Montu when I went last year. It also dropped down, if I recall correctly.

Also, the B:TR at GAdv does not have a gate. The floor drops down and you're pushed forward straight into the lift hill, which has gratings covering the floor, so people can't fall out.

I would imagine that Montu had the gates...I mean if you fell out of the station you would fall into the crocodile pit;)

TrBiggar,

Montu does have those gates. If a rider fell off that edge on that coaster, it could become very messy. =:^0

yeah, really if u fell out of montu you'd get eaten for supper!

I think i heard Medusa(SFGAdv) stalled in the Cobra roll, but then again it could just be the evil voices in my head speaking.

Actually, I'm pretty sure those are gators in the pit on Montu...

<sarcasm>MUCH less mess, since we gators don't eat anything as large as an ADULT human...small dogs and kids, on the other hand....tasty! </sarcasm>

At SFGAm, on B:TR you would be pretty stupid if you fell and hurt yourself seeing as it is only about a 6 inch drop.  and then it is to more floor..then the lift.
Alpengeist doesn't have the gate, if the gate is what I think of when gate has been described. The floor drops off and it's straight up the lift, the stations pretty flat there. But if Raptor's got one, I think I noticed it first on Batman @SFoG(?).
Just got back from Florida a few hours ago and I can tell you that Montu does have the retractable gate, while DD does not.

Weird, I don't remember a gate on Montu, and I power rode it when I went. I'm not doubting it though.

Hey, Flightoffear29withinblocks,

Just so you know you put as your signature "Outer Limits: Flight Of Fear crew 2000 & 2001".  It is now just called "Flight Of Fear"..........I do not think Michael or Heather would appreciate that.

Batman at SFOG does not have a gate.  Right after the station the floor drops about a foot and extends right to the lift, where the stairs and mesh begin.

Although not exactly a crash, Mantis at CP had a rollback during cycling during the early Spring.
Winds were very strong and train never made the 1st hill. It took a crane to remove the train car by car.
I know for a fact that Raptor has a gate. It was to keep guests (and us ride ops) safe from a fall out of the station. It was also a wonderful "device" we could use by standing on it to help us get a larger person in the 1st row buckled into the seat. (Back in the day we were permitted to do that btw)
The gate drops down as the floor drops down. Nothing fancy, just a metal gate!
