B&M Batman clones question....

When B&M designed Batman: The Ride, did they plan to clone it? And why? From what I can think, I think that is the only B&M cloned ride.

No, B&M probably didn't mean for it to be cloned. Batman is not the only cloned B&M coaster the other is a clone of Raptor called Orochi in Japan.

IT'S ALL AROUND THE WORLD JUST LA,LA,LA
I think B&M did this because it was the first working Inverted roller coaster, and other parks in the six flags industry wanted an inverted for themselves, yet the company was still working on how to make the other models, so they just did the easy thing and clone the ride. This is the best guess I can make.

The SFMM Salvi:
"Goliath Jr. looks to intense for me"
"I want to go on something more exciting than X"

Mantis' first half was reversed for Chang.
Also, the Batman clones take up very little space.
Well B&M Batman rides were small compact and packed a big punch.

Is G5 a clone of Oblivion?

G5 and Oblivion aren't clones. G5 is steeper and longer drop. G5's drop is 89 while Oblivion is 87. G5's drop is 213' and Oblivion is 180.

I doubt B&M planned to clone it, but would if asked. I can see why SF wanted a whole bunch of these for thier popular parks. It was designed to fit on Tidal Wave's footprint (a Schwarzkopf shuttle loop, if you didn't know) which meant it had to be narrow, which makes tight turns, and an extremely fast pace. The GP loves this, and SF took advantage and ordered more (along with Sea World Texas, and a couple Japanese parks).

BTW, I know the GP loves the intense, fast pace for a fact, well, the Midwest crowd anyways. There is always a line for it, the shortest I've had to wait is from about the exit of the park queue and a few maze segments (short ones) in the "ghetto" part (SFGAm's queue).

Also, the B:TR clones really aren't exact clones, they are 5 feet higher, and some are mirrors. But like that really matters.

Hey, SFGAm management, can I buy a couple cages of Sky Whirl?

they built it , it was great , so they thought why change it . and hey its a winner probobly the most packed lines at any park its at .But now i think its been cloned enough . but i hear one is a mirror image and one is painted yellow

Yo Duke, Tell me about this Raptor clone "Orochi" in Japan. Because I don't believe You! I want proof! and the king of all cloning "vekoma" will always have the most clones ever!

If it's a good coaster, I actually don't mind cloning.

Not all of us can travel the world in search of great coasters!

For instance with v2 and Deju Vu... I'd completely want to ride those rides, but if they only had them in say... Georgia, chances are I would never get to experience them.

Clones may certainly lack creativity, but they also give a chance for more people to ride a wider variety of coasters.

Batman is still a good ride in my book, and as mentioned above, the lines always seem to do fairly well. They year it opened they were insane.

I know this is off the original topic a bit, but I actually don't mind cloning in some ways.

Hey, onekong...here ya go, and dont forget about the pictures.
Hey SFMM02, the one at SFStL is the mirror image.  I don't know about color schemes seeing as I've only been on the one at SFStL and the one at SFMM.

Hey, I've been on both of those! The yellow one is at SFOT. The mirror image is at SFSTL, and provides a cool twist on the original, no pun intended.

Nothing comes close to the Original BTR. Most have been built over a parking lot. SFGAM has the best location.

[Before people get confused -- onekong's message was pretty offensive and was deleted, but was basically ranting about Raptor being cloned. Jman's response is perfectly valid, but loses some context, which is what this note is for :) --Greg]

Onekong...I hope you're kidding.  Since when are roller coaster records solely the domain of the US?  Nagashima wanted a 318 foot tall coaster that's over 8,000 feet long...so they built one.  It wasn't to "steal" the record from the US...it was under construction before MF was completed.   Why does it matter that Orochi is a Raptor clone?  Since it's so far away, I doubt very many people have ridden both.  It's a LOT better than all the B:TR and Boomerangs in the US...of which a lot of people have ridden multiple ones.  Eitherway, Raptor is a great ride, so they used the same design to save a little money, and still get a fantastic large invert.

That is false, G5 and Oblivion are exact clones.  One goes underground, the other is on "stilts" (very high supports, because it's off the side of a cliff).  However, their track dimensions are exactly the same.
