Blue Streak at CP running better?

I've noticed a lot of people mentioning how great Blue Streak has been running this season. I was there the first monday they were open at the front seat of BS was giving some of the best rides I've ever had on it. Did they do some major retracking over the off season? If it's running this well already, I cant wait for night rides on a hot late summer day! I just wish it still had buzz bars.
I think it's been running pretty well since about 2002. It's a fun ride. Just wish it was longer.

I noticed all new track laminates in the curve out of the station going towards the lift. The old track laminates were laid on their sides to form the curve. The turnaround is still that way. It's an *old school* technique used by John Allen and Herb Schmeck on many of their coasters. But I agree Shivtim, Blue Streak was awesome last weekend when I was there. Best running coaster in the park!! :):):)

Blue Streak has always been one of my favorites, IMO one of the best front seat rides out there. I rode the first week and thought that it was running especially well, too. Fast and smooth, speedy turnaround, great return. Airtime throughout. I'm just about the right size so that the lapbar doesn't pin to my legs- not as good as the old buzz bars, but ok for me. Loved it.
Well before you know it will be using "Blue Streak" in the same sentence with Ghostrider and Raven! ;)

I've always liked that ride a lot, now I'm really curious to know how what kind of a ride it delivers! Think it will be open when I visit family at Christmas? :)

The ride has been performing well ever since the Canadians worked on it. It feels good when those upstops slam up against the track and then the car slams back down. Air? You bet!

I love BS. To me, it's such a better ride than MS...and way more fun!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
Did they finally grease it this year? It's been about two years that it's run without grease. I wanted to cry every time I saw it like that :(

Blue Streak is running great this year, but I don't think it's noticeably better than in the past couple of years.

Perhaps it's just that Blue Streak is running great, while a lot of other wood coasters are not?

Mean Streak seems to be running better than usual as well, though it is still pokey, and the new butt cushions are abominable...

It is nice to see my favorite CP coaster getting some love. I enjoy an evening ride on this thing as much as any coaster out there. Just wish I could hop on the Pirate Ride after the exit...

I was there the same day, same seat. After I got off all I could say was WOW! I'm not a big person with airtime, but this ride just rocks for the a small, old, roller coaster in the corner of the park. I think it got better in my opinion.

The rides been running like a bat out of hell. If this coaster keeps getting better like it has in recent years it will soon be cracking my top ten woodies.

Like my signiture says " 30 years and still love it" LOL

Been going to the Point for over 30 years and still love it!!!!!!!!!!!
It must not just be this year, because it was running very well last year. It was the second biggest surprise for me at the park for my first visit, right behind Gemini (the best coaster there, IMO), and right above Disaster Transport in the 'Wow, I thought this was gonna suck but it was really good' catagory.
BS is one of my all time favorite coasters. My dad says it best. "I've ridden almost 20 different coasters at Cedar Point (he's been going since the 40s or 50s) and Blue Streak is STILL one of my favorites)"

I've been very pleased how it's been running the last few years!

Wow, this is great to hear. A trip to Cedar Point might just be worth it now. I haven't been there in 4 years.

And yeah, I wish I could hop on the Pirate Ride afterwards... :(

I rode Blue Streak last September and was amazed at the change in ride since my last visit there in 2002. Alot of airtime and alot more fun then when I first rode it.

I dont know if it is worth the trip to CP, but its a fun ride.
A great out-and-back woodie with airtime is always worth the trip for some of us...
Let's see...

*Wicked Twister - not worth the trip for me.

*Top Thrill Dragster - not worth the trip for me.

*Reports of Blue Streak running exceptionally well? That 2 hour drive might finally be worth it!
