Bizarre Park Rules

What's up with SFWoA's rule against straws? I mean really, what am i gonna do with it? Stab someone with a straw?!
SFWoA's "no straws" policy has to do with the fact that they are a danger to the animals in the park. Neither SWO or BGT (among others) use straws in their parks for the same reason.

Is it Conneaut Lake that doesn't allow bumping on the bumper cars?

"Guests must have at least 2 arms, and 1 leg to ride" (or maybe it was vice-versa...) ~ SRoS/SFDL

"Line jumping may cause ejection from park" ~ A strange rule considering FastLane users [pay-to-cut version] are always breaking the rule....

"Robe lights in use!!" ~ hehe. [supposed to be "strobe"]

Why is there a clockwise only rule on some bumper cars? To hit someone you have to either catch up to them or cut them off at the turn. They should just re-name the ride Non-Bumper Commute

When I was at BGT in 1993, they used paper straws. When did they get rid of straws all together?
I always thought it was funny how the hand grips on speedracers (Whizzer, Zambizi Zinger) are on the outside of the cars. So much for keeping your hands inside the vehicle at all times.

Head on collisions involve more energy and are more likely to cause injuries on bumper cars.

On a recent visit to Wild Adventures, I was told that I could not zip my hat inside of my jacket. It's okay to do it on MF and many others at all other parks, but here you must leave a hat at the station. I found out later that someone dropped their hat once on a kiddie coaster, it got stuck between the wheels and the track, and now all hats remain in the station.

They say the same thing at Knotts. The reason is that a jacket tied aroound the waist can get stuck in the train's wheel assembly. I believe that this happened on Jaguar, and the policy probably started after that.

I noticed that Kennywood wouldn't allow anyone to ride with a sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket tied around their waist. People were required to put them on correctly. I was trying to think of exactly why and the best I can come up with is that they don't want them flying off and hitting people. But with the amount of crap people like to bring on rides, I'd say a sweatshirt tied around the waist poses a smaller threat than many of them. Maybe there is another reason though.

What is up with CP's policy of no pics or anything until opening day? I don't know if there is some obvious thing I am missing, am I stupid or is that just a really wierd rule?

I think they don't want the public seeing the new ride until it opens. So it can kinda be a suprise?

In great adventure, on the Rodeo Stampede there's a sign that reads "two riders per cow" or something like that. i think it's pretty funny.
What do you mean they dont want anyone to see it? THEY HAVE A WEB CAM ON IT 24/7!!!!!!

Here is the SROS @ SFDL rule board (a few pictures down):

Notice the last rule.

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

SFWoA has this bizzarre rule that states "any form of 'grouping' is not allowed." We couldn't quite figure out what that meant. It was on the park map/guide last season...

The one leg thing is a real concern. There are a LOT of handicapped people at amusement parks as they have a hard time doing the things that most able-bodied people do in the summer (swimming, golf, baseball, etc.). Obviously, people with no legs can't be strapped in, and this is another way that parks cover their asses in case people are very insistant on riding.

Last year it was made a rule that you couldn't stay on the bridge by Adventure Falls at MIA. All season long there was an attendant out on the bridge to make sure people didn't stand there for more than one splash. Seriously, I thought that was a little far...standing on the bridge is more fun than the actual ride!

LOL! The same thing happened to me last year. I messed with them and just walked out of the queue and right back on the bridge like 4 times just to mess with the person. I asked him/her (I cant remember), "is this really necessary? at all the other parks I have been to they make bridges like this FOR people to stand on so they can get splashed." She just told me she has never heard of such a thing. LOL!

#1, Gwazi's ridiculous double-restraint check

#2, SFA's policy of leaving FastPass seats empty - REALLY reduces capacity...(SFoG lets other riders fill in the seats, way faster and creates MUCH less hostility between ride-ops and guests...;).

I'd have to guess that another reason for this rule may be if it got stuck on the lifthill they would have to be able to walk down the lift.

I also thought it was funny that the "family" coaster at SFWoA (roadrunner express) did not allow parents to ride in the 2000' season but I later found out it was due to the supports being too close to the track. They added foam padding and allowed taller people to ride. I don't see how the designer missed this...especially when it's a clone. :-\

Why do some parks, Great Adv. and Magic Mt. for instance not allow single riders in the back seat, even when the train is half empty.

-----------------
Whats life if you never get to the Po!nt?

Single riders are not allowed in the back seat because, in case something were to happen to that single rider (ejection from the ride, perhaps), there would be no witness to the incident. By not allowing singles in the back seat, you're providing that "witness" - whoever sits behind them in the back seat. I have no idea how this works on less busy days when nobody takes the back seat, as I've never seen the policy in effect.
