Bizarre Park Rules

Yeah park/ride rules are there to keep you, and other people safe, but what are some weird park/ride rules that make you think "what the heck"?

For example at Paramount Canada's Wonderland, there is a rule on jet Scream (Intamin Looping Starship), that tells you "not to hit the jet", why would anyone hit the jet, and what else gets me is that the only people who can are the people on the ride. i am still confused to this day!

What are some others ?

Welcome one and all, y'all come have a ball!
Things a bear-y fine, ridin' on the old Knott's bear-y line!

I have never been, but I know SFWoA has a weird picture policy. And at SFEG, there is a truly a sign that says:

"Spitting and or throwing rock or MISSILES is unlawful and may result in ejection from the park"

How would anyone get a missile into a park and across it and onto a ride? See for yourself:

Maybe their talking about bottle rockets? Plus you can make 'missles' by those motors you can by the laucnh those rockets that go wwaaay up in the air. It's unlikly but somthing like that has probibly happend!

S:UF World's only flying coaster! Don't you love SF ?

not so much a weird rule, but a weird move by most parks in the UK. no bins in Q lines, thats just stupid!

I heard PKD's new flyers have a sign that says "Anyone snapping the cables will be ejected immediately." If there really is a sign that says this, that is just dumb. PKI lets you snap the cables and their ride is fine!

It doesn't refer to rockets in this context.
"Missiles" is a general term for any object thrown. If you throw a coin, a rock, a blade of grass, etc...it's considered throwing a missile in the eyes of the law. My cousin was once charged with throwing missiles when he through a handful of grass at someone.

By missiles I would commonly assume that means any other kind of projectile (since they have already mentioned rocks) such as a pencil or a coin. I've heard that phrase used in that context before.

Yeah, there are some pretty bizarre rules out there. Many of those rules exist, however, because someone wasn't smart enough to follow common sense. Here's a perfect example:

Common sense for most people but there are some guests who might feel the urge to jump that fence. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

someone explain snapping cables. my first time riding one was last year at pkd, how do i snap it. Turn the fin fast or something.
OHIcoaster, that is funny. Maybe the BARBED WIRE fence just wasn't enough to tell people to stay out...hehehe...but I guess they have to cover them selves in case someone is that stupid...

i should think they are there just to cover themselves. say someone did go into that area and got hurt, i am sure they would sue six flags. without that sign there, they might even have a pretty strong case. with those signs, six flags are just covering their ass' so to speak!

What is up with CP's policy of no pics or anything until opening day? I don't know if there is some obvious thing I am missing, am I stupid or is that just a really wierd rule?

We were at PKI Last weekend and we went into the phantom theater. A dark ride with lots of little suprises. I was with 2 12 year old boys whom thought it was fun to scream as they found scary things. They were just being boys and lo and behold...the voice comes across the loudspeaker.." For the courtosy and saftey of other passengers, please do not scream while in the Phantom theater." It was the joke for the rest of the day.....
Last year it was made a rule that you couldn't stay on the bridge by Adventure Falls at MIA. All season long there was an attendant out on the bridge to make sure people didn't stand there for more than one splash. Seriously, I thought that was a little far...standing on the bridge is more fun than the actual ride!

I don't know that it's a particular park rule so much as it is a difference in ride height requirements for the same exact ride in different parks. Yes, I realize that this falls under local jurisdiction to come up with these requirements, but try explaining this to a 3 year old who can ride something in her home park in NJ at 36" tall, but in Ohio she has to be 42". The number of times this has happened are too numerous to mention. I can't wait until she is tall enough so that this will no longer be an issue.

That same rule applies on Splashwater Falls at SFGAm. I dont know how crowded MIA gets but at SF, the crowds used to just hang out on the bridge for the big splash which created gridlock for those who wanted to exit the ride. I can see why they do this.

Im going to grab a cold one! WHAT? Walk to my computer! WHAT? Turn the thing on! WHAT? Log on to Coasterbuzz! WHAT? I said log on to Coasterbuzz!! WHAT?WHAT?WHAT?

I noticed that Kennywood wouldn't allow anyone to ride with a sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket tied around their waist. People were required to put them on correctly. I was trying to think of exactly why and the best I can come up with is that they don't want them flying off and hitting people. But with the amount of crap people like to bring on rides, I'd say a sweatshirt tied around the waist poses a smaller threat than many of them. Maybe there is another reason though.

On a recent visit to Wild Adventures, I was told that I could not zip my hat inside of my jacket. It's okay to do it on MF and many others at all other parks, but here you must leave a hat at the station. I found out later that someone dropped their hat once on a kiddie coaster, it got stuck between the wheels and the track, and now all hats remain in the station.
Ohiocoaster's sign on X has the sound of an OSHA sign directed primarily to employees. You often see such signs in industry.
I've heard the story about being able to ride a ride in one park, but not at another many times before.Uusally it's because of either state or insurance requirements. But there is also another twist to this also. What you may think is the same ride as the one you have ridden before may not be. Several manufactuers may build their own version of a ride.At a glance they look identical. But when you take a closer look at them you can start seeing the differences. Enterprise rides come to my mind right off the bat. Schwarzkopf and Huss were the two principal builders of these rides, and I recall there may be one or two other builders that offer similar rides. Theses rides look the same , but the cabins are different. In this case that is what determines what the minimum height requirement would be.
