Big Thunder Mountain Railroad incident

I'm sure Fox News Channel will come up with something even sleazier. Anyway, let's have a moment of silence for the man who died and the others injured who I'm sure some had a connection to. Disney needs to do something seriously. These things should not be occuring in Disney parks. They are suppsoed to represent the highest level of theme park safety and commitment. Instead they spend time on budget cutting and Fastpass. I'd rather wait in a 3 hour line for a safe ride than walk right onto a dangerous one.
That "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: Check Back Later" was appalling. They're not going to open this ride up again!!?

I wonder if the ride derailed in the queue area, as that's what was shown. If that is the case, someone's got to have it on video. REAL TV! Now that's even sleazier. It would probably happen to. Who knows what's going to happen with this.

Remember, folks, the news media read these boards.

Disney covers up everything!! EVERYTHING!! I am surprised they didn't shoot down the news copters! This really isn't a laughing matter and I am kind of upset that someone died and the coaster world has been hit hard again!

Damn. This one's going to hurt big time.

My deepest sympathies to anyone involved in the accident. Speculation and the blame game are the last things needed right now.

RE: "And if that's not sleazy, I don't know what is."

Why, that would be the music they play along with the completely-blown-out-of- proportion headline. (Or do they only do that here in Rhode Island?)

I guess they figured it would raise more questions if they put 'Closed' next to the Thundermountain nameplate, though it would probably be the smart thing to do.

What an unfortunate accident. My thoughts are with the family of the deceased.

CNN.com is reporting 1 killed, 10 injured
Mouse planet is saying this lets hope its true!!

CNN is now reporting that one of the injured has died.

According to Marci Dodson at UCI-Medical. According to Dodson, the critically injured person, a 22-year-old male, has been upgraded to serious condition. This contradicts the CNN report, if the report refers to the same individual.

The three minors range in ages from 9 to 16.

Oh my.

I sincerely hope that nothing worse happens to the people involved and that they'll all be okay. This is so unfortunate and really a freak accident.

Disney is the last park I would ever expect this to happen to.

Yes, they have a great PR department.

This is terrible news. Big Thunder is my favorite ride there.

They probably ran out of "closed" plates.

Darth Justin - Please show some compassion and/or respect for those involved. Your comments are quite tasteless and tactless at this moment.

-Jim.

My primary concern at a tough moment like this is to make sure I get a dig in at the Fox News Channel. A person has apparently lost his life. Ten others are injured. Reportedly, Disney is acting like Disney and behaving in the exact opposite manner that Holiday World acted earlier this year when they too had a terrible tragedy. But please do remember "I'm sure Fox News Channel will come up with something even sleazier." Or maybe I could say something like "Ok, I just saw it on Fox News (terrible channel by the way)"!

What is most important to know on this Rollercoaster Message Board is that Fox News Channel sucks!

Let me get this straight. There were THREE derailments or breakaways in the past year? I can only think of two. Details please. Thanks.

Just for the record, forgive me if my previous comments came off as insensitive. My heart goes out to the victems and their friends and families, not to the ride itself...

Disneyland might seem to have had more than its fair share of incidents recently, but keep in mind that thay have incredible numbers of guests each year. Couple that with staying open year-round, it doesn't surprise me.

Please, everyone, remain calm. This is a horrible tragedy. My thoughts go out to the deceased, the injured, and their families.

At this point, we know very little. Let's keep the speculation and commentary to ourselves out of respect.

Thank you.
