Big coasters with even bigger punches

I too wish it was much closer, Jeff!  Maybe we can do a tour together, and hit the Japanese parks together?????

Sounds good to me.  You think our music would be compatible!? :)  I wonder how that would work!

Jeff...  I know it's not compatible, but heck....it's a great excuse!;)

Boblogone...  Sorry, but I had to ask.  Bob Log III is a musician (read that weird!), and very different, so I thought maybe its him (you).  Thanks anyway! :)

LoadedG...  Couldn't agree more about Ghostrider.  It scares me what might happen if KBF adds trims, but right now it is the greatest, most shocking coaster I know.

Phantom's Revenge was so much more than I expected.  I knew it's was going to have airtime, but the shear wickedness of it is absolutely amazing.  Easily became one of my favorites.

PR is one coaster I absolutely MUST ride soon.  I have friends close to Kennywood, so it looks like I need to get there!  Thunderbolt must be amazing too....oh, to live on the East coast, if only for one year.... the coasters I could see :)  Anybody want to put me up for a weekend?

nasai, I got the height info from this site.  I don't know if it's accurate, or what the drop height is.  I would love to join your Japanese tour, though.  Wouldn't that be fun.  I'm actually planning to move to the Osaka area soon, to work for a record company there.  I'm also going to be putting a band together there, eventually.  It will be a high energy Blues band.  Maybe you could sit in with us some time.
I agree with Phantom's Revenge; I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't nearly as good as what I got!

Wow!  Chris, I had no idea.  You never lead to that in your e-mails to me.  Hmmm.... If everything moves along the way I expect, I shall be living in Takarazuka within the next few years.   Have you been to Takarazuka family land?  Nice old steel coaster there.  Might even be a Schwartkopf?  I need to check this out......

No, I was only in Japan for two and a half weeks in April of this year.  I went to Nagashima SpaLand and Expoland.  I wanted to go to more parks, but I was really sick the whole trip.  It limited my activities.  When ever you return, let me know.  My best friend works for the record company I spoke of.  If you want to play music while you're there, he's a great person to talk to.  He knows a lot of fantastic Japanese musicians, and is a great pianist himself.

How far is Nagashima SpaLand from Toyko, and how much does it cost (US Dollars, approx.) ? Also, what is their operating season ? There is a slim chance I might be going to Toyko this spring or summer.

Current favorite coasters:
Wooden: 1) Beast 2) Raven 3) Son of Beast 4) The Boss 5) Timber Wolf
Steel: 1) Raging Bull 2) Millennium Force 3) V2 4) Wild Thing 5) Mr. Freeze

I think the last coaster that was small yet packed a big nunch that  i rode was Gemini at CedarPoint.I knew it was going to be a difrent ride from the rest but the drops where so steep and jyst yanked me out my seat i loved every sec of it,Nuthing like getting scared to death.

Joe....  Nagashima is about 4 hours by commuter rail, or 90 minutes by Shinkansen (bullet train).  The season opens in March, I believe and runs into November.  An all day pass is approximately $45.  During off season, the park opens at 9:30 and closes at 5:30.  Not a lot of time....the park is pretty quiet in off season though.  Granted, I don't think it is EVER super busy...certainly not like CP in that regard.

Ghostrider, and S:RoS (the weakest of the three from what I've heard, still the BEST I've ridden).  Goliath I thought was excellent, and the Beast (back when...).  The "big coasters" that didn't live up to my expectations were SoB, MF, and Steel Force...SoB too rough, which can be worked out.  MF had speed and power to spare, but a noticeable lack of air other than the third hill.  Steel Force just ran too slow to get any airtime, but I got only one ride (near the back), so maybe I'll have to try again...

Ghostrider is the most intense thing ive ever ridden (besides thrill shot) that first drop (like that other guy said) literally feels like your being sucked into the earth

Brian...  Sounds good, man!  Did you move yet?  I have to get to Myrtle Beach, and take in some coasters...:)  If anything happens soon, or even if it doesn't, you can bet I will be hanging with you bud!  It would be nice to get back to Carowinds too!

Jeff, if I join the coasterbuzz Club, will you drive me to Japan? My parents won't do it, they are mean...

Actually, the coaster that surprised me the most was none other than the Yankee Cannonball at Canobie Lake Park in NH.  I was up there for the weekend and I happened to catch it and it was great!  Lot of airtime in the ejector seat.  (row 3)  and almost no lines.  Spent most of my afternoon on it.  Really IMO it pked a punch because I was almost never sitting down!!!
