BGW vs. PKD

Tough one...PKD has Grizzly, but BGW has Apollo's Chariot and Alpengeist.

BGW -

They have awesome coasters such as Apollo's Chariot and Alpengeist, and BBW & LNM.

PKD -

Hypersonic is the top coaster there.

Overall -

BGW because they have better roller coasters. If a park has B&M coaster(s), go to the park with the B&M rides because B&M makes better roller coasters.

The fast thing at BGW is to go to Apollo's Chariot first then catch BBW on the walk to Alpengeist and then catch the mouse and Lochness last. Only problem is Apollo is slow to warm up and the first hours rides are real slow.

Do you think we could do it backwards..to give AC time to warm up?
I think you would be best to do it backwards anyway. The lines at BGW definitely are shorter at night than around opening time anyway. If you could be there by 7 p.m. you could do all the coasters at least twice. I know that for fact as I go there at least once or twice a week. I also think it is much cooler at night anyway. This will also give you more time at PKD which you will need. Lines are a little bit more lengthy for their main coasters than at BGW.
I did PKD for the first time this past year while I was on my yearly trek to BGW. I got a chance to ride most of the coasters, only three that i missed was Scooby Doo, Shockwave, and Anaconda. The crowds and garbage that I saw reminded me of Six Flags Great Adventure. PKD isn't a park that I would spend more than one day at. IMO BGW is definitely better even though it has fewer coasters and flat rides. I would go to BGW to ride the coasters, take in the great shows, and enjoy the fabulous food.

"Airtime, how sweet it is!"
I know BGW is nice, I've been there a few times, but IMO, it's not THAT much nicer than PKD. I was all prepped to see a smoldering pile of dead bushes and trash and pavement as we pulled upon PKD, but we were pleasantly suprised. The lines have some gum on them and all, but I couldn't imagine the park needing to do much to compete these days. Compared to parks such as Carowinds and SFoG, King's Dominion was nice, and offers the kind of variety that makes your money seem nicely spent(nothing against those parks, I was just impressed w/PKD). Sure, some of thier rides could pack better punch, but the punch they give coupled with the punch from a few other of the rides is satisfying. BGW is just plain an expensive addition to a trip, IMO if you're doing other things.
