If you're skating on thin ice, you may as well tap dance.
I was able to go to Kennywood for the first time on its closing weekend. Very surprised at how good Phantom's Revenge is. Plus being able to ride a Bayern Kurve again after soooo many years. Pure joy!
Hitting Millennium Mania shortly after 9/11 and actually feeling an escape from the world for once. Had the best Mantis and Magnum rides in years.
Going to Michigan's Adventure in July for the first time and was very, very impressed with Shivering Timbers. Couldn't get enough of that ride.
Getting my first rides on X Flight the first weekend it was open. Thought it was quite a bizarre sensation.

Millennium Mania '01, September 14...standing in line for MF when they shut the rides down just before 7 pm for a few minutes of silence in rememberance of the victims of 9/11. The park was completely silent.
And my first ride on Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure.

Well, I havent been to any coaster events so my list may not sound as great as some of the others out here.
-Hitting Raging Bull real early in the morning and getting about 10 rides in before a line developed. I really came to love this coaster in those 10 rides and it was a whole lot of fun.
-Ohio Trip: Hitting Ohio for the first time for coaster riding. Did CP and WOA for the first time and had a blast. Recorded 20 new coasters in the span of 3 days. Highlights included XFlight, Raptor, and of course Millenium Force(sp?)
-Finding Coasterbuzz: I found a group of coaster enthusiasts on the web that are better behaved than the folks on rrc or coasterforums.com. The discussions are more lively and on topic and there is a bunch of great people out here that I would like to meet some day.

2001 was a year of many firsts for me. There are so many so I'll just list a few.
The best took place over the whole season and that was meeting so many different wonderful people from this board and from ACE. I hope to meet more of you this year.
Commercial shoot for X-Flight at SFWoA. 4 quick rides in a row on that baby is not recommended for those who get dizzy easily.
First trips to Conneaut, Waldameer and Idlewild with my daughter. There's nothing like seeing how happy and excited your own child gets just seeing rides, let alone riding them. Just to hear those little giggles and laughter throughout the day are priceless.
My first Coastermania, even though a little soggy in the morning, was incredible. Millennium Force at night is just amazing.
My first Kennykon. Beautiful day, wonderful people and an insane airtime filled ride on Phantom's Revenge at 11:30 pm.
My first PPP and first time to Knoebel's. What a great park!! Great atmosphere, food and rides all at a good price. Some of the costumes were just too funny. I also found my favorite woodie in the Phoenix. Just no resisting all the airtime. Just riding it over and over and over all night, was all I needed.
Millennium Mania. While it was a little disappointing because they stopped re-rides that day (the last day no less), riding MF 20+ times throughout the day made up for it.
Last, but by no means least, taking part in the Discovery Channel Shoot on Kennywood's Phantom's Revenge. Day one was a little cold and slow with 6 rides, but day two was beautiful, 70+ degrees, sunny and 44 rides. The airtime on this ride is just utterly amazing/insane and made it my favorite steel, just eeking out MF.
All in all 2001 was an amazing year for me and I know 2002 is going to be even better.

First ride on Nitro (front seat)
First front seat ride on Medusa. What a difference.
New favorite woodie; Phoenix.
Front seat ride on Steel Force in the pouring rain (I highly recommend wearing sunglasses).
First ride on Phantom's Revenge.
Experiencing the Jack Rabbit's double dip.
Multiple rides on the CI Cyclone.
Riding Boulderdash in the dark.
Growing to love the SFNE Cyclone.
First time in Las Vegas. Speed, Manhattan Express and forcing myself to ride the Big Shot once at night and once during the day. What a rush.
I hope there will be many more memorable moments this year and for many years to come.

Taking my wife to CP for her first trip in almost 25 years.
Somehow (I still have no clue how I did it) being able to talk her into sitting in the front row of MF. (She's not a coaster lover, plus she doesn't like heights - but I love her anyhow) ;) ;) ;)
My first trip to SFMM - too bad that X was just sitting there taunting me...
My first trip to SFoG - too bad Viper was torn down ...
My first trip to SFWoA - 1 ride of XFlight - gonna hit it more this June.
I have 2 that stand out for me:
First, and foremost, was taking my 10 year old daughter to SFGAm for the first time. The look of elation on her face as we rode Viper (my favorite) was very special to me.
And second was going up the second lift hill on The Beast at PKI as the fireworks were starting. What an incredible site to see the lights of the park and the fireworks exploding overhead as we were taking one of our last night rides.

Best memory of 01 would be of the same thread as 2hostyl emotional, heartfelt experience with MS. Koch. I visited SFNE with a friend of mine (who is handicapped and so of course is exclude from most activities) and nothing can top the exhileration of riding Superman with him. It was one of his first coasters and he had never ridden Superman or a hyper, so he was completely blown. Even better than Superman, was how appreciative he was after the whole day. I really gave him the royal treatment and a comprehensive tour all around SFNE, it was just as enjoyable for me as it was for him. There really was no experience in 01' that could parallel it, best coaster in the world while making a beneficial impact upon someone. I won't say I changed his life(too drastic) but it really did have a large affect upon his general mood for a few weeks.

-Waiting an hour for the front seat for Millenium Force for the first time and getting told that the DJ wouldn't play Hash Pipe from Weezer as Cedar Point is a family park.
-My first ride on MF was pretty swell too
-Getting seven backseat rerides on Excalibur at Valleyfair without having to wait.
-Being amazed by how good Viper at Six Flags Great America really is. Most amazing wooden coaster I've been on so far. (I'm hitting the Knobel's and Kennywood classics this summer, as well as a trip to both Worlds of Fun and Michigan's Adventure.)

SRM 2001 .. The Legend, The Raven, The rain, The stoppage of lift motor after every over-shoot ... oh and of course THE BELL !!
And I think seeing Sean F. get out of the train and tossing his glowstick away saying he didn't want it cause it was cursed ( i think it was Sean F.)

Awwwww You guys have way too much fun! ;)
I have soooo many good memories from last year....the coaster trip a girlfriend and I took to Virginia/DC, first visit to SFGAm, and my first coaster event--Coastermania @ CP!
One of my more poignant memories of '01 was riding The Mine Ride @ CP during Halloweekends. Riding it reminded me of my very first coaster ride as a kid on that same coaster with my dad, who passed away September '01.
