Hey Sean,
I hafta ask how does Collossos compare to SoB? Great pic too!
Thanks Charlie!,
I honestly can't compare the two coasters because they are so different. Son of Beast has more of a classic wooden coaster feel and lets you know you have been on it.
Colossos is more about airtime and providing a smooth ride. During our ERT, I rode one time with my eyes closed and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between riding it and a steel coaster with the exception of the strange semi-clunky sections of the helix.I loved how smooth it was. Colossos doesn't make hardly any noise with the exception of the odd "brrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound as the train flies over every hill.

I think what's most interesting is the wide range of what we find pleasing in a roller coaster photo. I've never seen it discussed like this and in 62 posts (before mine) there are probably 62 different opinions on what makes a good photo.
No real point here, I just thought I'd mention it as I find it interesting. What I find even more interesting is that I'm very "against the grain" in what photos catch my eye as compared to most. I just find those big, wide, far-off shots of entire layouts boring. It's a very "documentary" style - "here's the coasters and this is what it looks like". There are many well shot photos like this but they tend to be...well, very documentary in style. I like the "arty" approach better. Visually pleasing first and a coaster photo second. Make it interesting and I'll keep looking. Sometimes I find it fascinating just seeing a coaster through someone else's eyes. This "personal" approach just isn't there in the standard full layout coaster photo. Then again enthusiasts tend to be very stats oriented and analytical - very left brained in general so it should be no surprise that that syle of photo is more popular.
Sheesh, I turned that into a photography theory discussion...really didn't mean to, but it just came out - so I'll leave it.

I really like this pic of the Coney Island Cyclone - something about the buildings in the photo just does it for me. Then again, I'm a tad biased about this shot

300mm lens, hogfat.
Back on the subject of photo style, this is probably my single favorite coaster photo that I've personally taken:
Who says you can't take a picture directly into the sun? :)

Jman
If you look in the Coney Island pics on rcdb, there's one with one guy standing up in the first row with a girl right next to him scrunched in the corner.
IMO, best picture that I've taken
Superman:Ride of Steel (SFNE) right before tunnel
I took it at ACE's Superhero Celebration on Nov. 3. We were allowed to go on the maintenence road for photo ops, and it happens to cross right over the tunnel...truly an amazing moment in my life.

I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.
Here's a link to the old Bat (KI) that I use as my desktop picture. It looks to have been taken from the queue, where you can now wait to go on the Vortex:

Do I want to ride this beast badly or what?
Olov, I'm kind of embaressed to ask, but what coaster is that, and where is it?
titanfan, as far as I know, "The Beats Picture," refers to any picture taken from the top of The Beast's lift hill, usually with an emphasis on the view of the second lift hill/double helix. The specific photo you refer to may be what started the trend, however. Do you know if it's posted on the web anywhere? It sounds like a cool picture.

Most of my favorites are one that I actually took..
My absolute favorite pic ever, I must've spent about 10 minutes just planning it out.
This Hypersonic pic took a little less time to set up..
Ugh.. I need to re-scan this awesome Apollo pic.
Everyone seems to have this Hulk pic..
For some reason I absolutely love this Taxi Jam pic with my little bro and dad.
Vortex as seen from the Sternwheeler.. too bad it's the worst ride in the park.
Have to give credit to my mom for this one, me and my bro in Volcano's front seat.
This rare Volcano pic was taken from the FoF area.
If you ignore the glare of the window of the helicopter, this pic of the Beast is actually pretty good.
I call it 'Deja Blur'.
The beginning of SROS..
..and the end (thanks mom for those 2 as well).
Not a coaster, but damn, this is an awesome pic of Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls.
