Being stuck on a coaster or ride

Ummmmm...........Danh, I believe everyone that said they were able to walk down the lift hill. I think most of the B&M inverts have a net between the two sets of steps, so it would be possible for people to get down. I'm not entirely sure of that though. I think some have a moving platform thing that goes up the lift to get people onto the steps. Again, I'm not entirely sure of that. Anyways, I got stuck for like 3 seconds on Batman: The Escape at SFAW. The train rolled back onto the anti-rollbacks and it surprised a lot of people. Hey Eurpo-mir, how did you get stuck on SWAT? I've seen it stuck vertical twice, and it would suck to be upside down when it stopped!

Danh, they also could be stuck on the Mid-Course Brake. You shouldn't be so quick to accuse people of "bs"ing.
All of the inverts, and the flyers as well, have moving platforms to evacuate people off the lift hill. Some of them are motorized, and some are moved by hand. I have seen them evacuate people off both B:TR and S:UF at SFGAdv, so they are used.

Myself, I have been stuck on Rolling Thunder many times. I have also gotten stuck on Maggie at CP. I think the most intersting thing though was being stuck on Space Ship Earth at EPCOT. I skipped the fireworks show that night and instead hopped on Space Ship Earth because I had not done it yet and there was no line due to the fireworks. Well, I must have been in a camera blind spot because just as I was nearing the end they shut the ride down. It didn't just stop, the whole ride shut down and the lights went out. I started yelling down the tunnel that I was still on it, and after a few minutes they started it back up and brought me the rest of the way down with many apolagies.

I was stuck on the brake run of Twister II when it was raining...not real fun.

I've only been stuck on one ride, and that was X. We were in the front seat going over the first little dip before the hill and the ride stopped....our seats were in a real awkward position (my head was lower than my legs), so it was really uncomfortable, but fun.....a ride op ran up the steps and hit a flashing red button I believe and the ride started.....right as it started we flipped over and down the hill, pretty neat experience!

The only time I ever got stuck was on The Haunted Mansion at MK for about 15 sec. It just stopped in the middle of the ride and I wasnt sure if it was part of the ride or not since it was my first time on it. I probably just jinxed myself. :-)

I have gotten stuck on the Iron Dragon numerous times, I cant remember how many. Everytime it was at the midcourse or the second lift. Each time the blocks were cleared and we eventually started moving again.

The most annoying part is the idiots trying to get out of their harnesses by wigling back and forth.

At my first visit to SFoG this year, I got stuck on S:UF. After we came back into the station the hydraulic lifts that lower the seats from flying to loading position broke. We were stuck in the flyin position for about 20-25 minutes which was extremely uncomfortable, even for Beemer restraints. When they did get us down, we sat there for about 5 more minutes because the restraints wouldn't unlock. They ended up having to individually unlock everyones restraints.

I have had 'many' stops on lift hills;

SOB-right after an electrical storm so lightning was flashing in the distance and their was only 6 people on the train

Beast - both lifts, but was evacatuated out of a train on the second lift hill on a really hot day once (we were in the front and the lift had no power when we hit it)

SooperDooperLooper - once had a ride where we stopped at all the mid-course brakes ( about 20 years ago)

Legend - During SRM we were escorted out on the first night of ERT from the brake run.

Too many other stops to remember...

I got stuck twice this year.

Once I got stuck on The first ride of the official opening day (May 1st) of the Ozark Wildcat. I was stuck on the lift for about 6 or 7 minutes. This was more of a bummer type deal rather than a scary one, everyone on the train was ready for the Wildcat. However the lfit did restart and I got to enjoy the best wooden coaster I ever been on, and indeed it is my favorite.

The other time was on the Orient Express. Which was caused by me puting on my sunglasses while going up the lift. This causes the ride ops to belive I slid my arm underneath the Restraint which is the reason why the lift was stop. I can almost say this was one of my most embarising moments on a Roller Coaster.

And I'll never, ever, ever, ever, ever make a song about the Sibbie.

2 years ago I got stuck on S:ROS at SFDL because one of the brake line hoses burst. We sat on the lift for 1/2 an hour, and then proceeded to send us through without testing the brakes. As we came back into the station, our whole train started chanting for a free ride, and we got our wish. ;)

Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean I

Let's see.

Maggie

lift hill in 89, blown fuse or something, sat in the train for 15 min., mechanic got the motor running, we finished the ride.

lift hill in 02, 1 or 2 minutes. Think it was a problem in the station.

Iron Dragon - The second lift hill prob 5 times.

CCMR - second lift hill on Tuesday.

PKI Scooby's Ghoster Coaster - top of lift mechanism wouldn't release us.

Vortex - mid-course brake run

I have to say I agree with danh. I have seen coasters stuck for upwards of an hour (none while I've been on them), and I've never witnessed guests getting out of a coaster and walking down. Having guests walking a lift hill, or any of the access methods, is far more dangerous than having the guest sit in a train until it can be returned to the station. It just isn't a risk parks want to take unless they absolutely have to.

I got stuck on Dudley Do Right Ripsaw Falls just before the unload station for about 10 minutes. The ops came by first, and told us to remain seated until they either got the ride started or they helped us unload. Wouldn't you know it, the less-than-stellar human beings behind us decided to screw the rules, and as their little kid got out (unassisted by her parents) she tripped and fell on her face into some bushes. Of course, the parents blamed the ride ops. I was happy to see that they had covered their butts, and would not get in trouble for this. A few minutes later, the ops assisted us in getting out of the logs. Nothing big, but it was unfortunate to see a kid get hurt because her parents had no regard for the rules protecting her safety.

Last Summer I got stuck on MF, unfortunatley not at the top. The train I was on did not come to a complete stop in the unloading station and we continued on to the area of the transfer track before we were stopped. Then we had to sit for half an hour while the mechanics went to get the air pump necessary to release the lap bars manually. Fun times.

I feel the need, the need for speed.

Nearly got stuck on the Iron Dragon 1st lift hill. It really slowed down about 10 feet up the lift and was only going about 2mph. Also got stuck on the Serial Thriller at SFWOA for nearly 20 minutes on the brake run. Car in the station broke down and you can only fit one car in the station. Was quite funny with people yelling that we were stuck whn ops and mechanics were already fixing it.

I think it's worse getting stuck on a flat ride! Imagine getting stuck on the rainbow.

I've never been stuck on a ride for any significant length of time, but this reminds me of why I'm so loathe to surrender my glucose meter and "emergency candy". Imagine a diabetic who was forced to leave their supplies in the station, only to be stranded on the ride for 2 hours. That could quite rapidly turn into a medical emergency. For those of us on insulin pumps (which are incredibly flexible, but deliver ONLY short-acting insulin) the situation becomes even worse if we were to be forced to remove the pump itself...

Sorry, had to slip that in there, because the number of locations that aren't allowing "anything" to go on the ride with you is growing, and situations like this show that there has to be SOME common sense in these policies.

I agree, in general, but in some cases, you have to consider the weather. An approaching storm, or excessive heat, can cause far more serious problems, then the risk of being escorted down a lift hill.
