Would it be possible for someone to have a maximum number of negative votes? If posters could vote against other posters for being inappropriate, illogical, dumb, etc., the forums may be quieter. Also, it could be anonymous so no flame wars start. Not automatically, but maybe after a certain poster has 10 or 20 votes against him/her/it, a moderator could review what they've done and possibly ban them.

It would make for too much reviewing. Lots of kiddies would abuse the warning system and make extra work for our mods. They have limited time, so why give em more work for stuff that isn't necessary?

It's an interesting idea, but I think it needs for a different implementation.

Good idea, but it is inherently flawed because one cannot trust anyone to be completely fair. For example, if a new poster comes on and someone suspects him of being CPNut reincarnate, then almost immediately he would be toast. I just think it may lead to much to grudges and bad blood between members. I think the way it is now works fine, even though occasionally we do have to put up with some idiots for a while before the moderators can boot them.

P.S. I can see why you thought this up though, I've been getting pretty pissed over the last few days because of some of the things that have been going on. Oh well, maybe I just 'don't have a sense of humor'. :)

I think I remember someone saying something like, "let the moderators do the moderating." I think the system right now works, if you have a problem with someone you can email one of them and they'll take care of it.

Agreed... leave the moderating to the moderators. If there's a bunch of crap on the site, I have an idea. Do what we were doing: Anything else.

I know it's shocking, but believe it or not, our lives don't revolve around this site.
