There isn't necessary a politician who defends thrill rides themselves, but rather many who are against federal regulation in general.

As near as I can tell, the actual rate of traumatic brain injury for people at anusement parks is lower than for the general population. I'm guessing that this is because the people attending amusement parks are younger than the national average. Markey's data has been reviewed by real neurologists instead of politicians and found to have no validity.
