Bad news for fat people on S:UF

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but how exactly do these "big people" (not referring to height) become such "big people?" I am a personal trainer, and bust my butt trying to keep in tip-top shape. Why can't everyone else do the same? Just put down that burger, and pick up a dumbbell. It's not that hard.

Of course, I love those "big people" with even bigger wallets though. =)

Wow, let's all just start being unsensitive to other people. I thought that we were all friends but friends just don't talk this was to and about one onother.

By the way, I am not as heavy as most but I AM slightly offended

Dexter, Who can fit into any seat on a non-kiddy ride and is 6'2" and only 200 pounds.

Bass: there are other factors than just putting down a burger and picking up a weight. availablity of weights, time to actually work out, genetics, etc.

now I think that manufacturers should do their best to accodimate larger riders, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Well, just as parks have minimum height restrictions for safety, they should also have maximum weight restrictions. If it at all endangers the rider, other riders, or even the integrity of the ride, they should not be allowed on. It's as simple as that. Little kids are not allowed on the rides because the restraints don't fit them, so it would be dangerous. The same thing can be said for someone who is too large.

Hey, sorry if I sounded harsh, but fitness is my passion (other than coasters), and it means so much to me. I just don't understand why other people don't seem to give a crap about it, yet they whine about society being cruel and all that.

Genetics do play a role, but not as much as one would think. For most, it's just an excuse. Try this on for size to see if that claim has any merit for you. Work out 4 days a week for an hour and half for two months. At that point, if you have minimal results, then give me a call. No time is also an excuse. You have time to eat, sleep, and watch TV, don't you? You mean your health (and life) isn't worth taking a little extra time out of your busy day?

Soggy - From what I can make up, the size of the seats on the B&M Flyer are actually pretty much the same compared to a B&M Coaster, but with AIR and I Assume SUF, there are no seats made a little bit wider to accomodate Larger people which means its unlikely large people will be able to ride SUF. I believe the reason why B&M decided against installing the big boy seats(Normally located in rows 4 or 5) is simply because of a weight issue, Its been said that if the trains had too much weight on them, they will struggle to make it round the course and seeing as how AIR doesnt go partically fast in the first place(Only 43 mph) more weight on the trains would simply make it so slower. this is another reason why B&M went for 7 rows instead of its trademark 8 rows to cut down on weight on the trains
Like I say, if anyone is in any dought, I really suggest you try out the test seat outside the entrance for which I hope B&M will install one for SUF. The Seat now outside AIR proved popular last saturday with many people trying it out before queueing up just to see if they would be ok fitting on the ride.
PaulD - So are you saying that if you're ok on a regular B&M inverted seat, that you're good to go on the Flyer?

Paul D: adding weight doesn't effect speed. drop a hammer and a feather in a vacum and they'll fall at the same speed. weight will only effect inertia. the train won't want to start moving and it won't want to stop moving. but I somehow doubt that an extra 100 pounds is really going to screw up the intended inertia of the 1000 pound train.

Would it be politically correct to call them gravity/weight enhanced?

Well for your info., BassHedz, I am not big like Fat Albert I'm mostly big like a football player, and I lost 6 pounds since Monday. When I started my diet I was at 305 now I'm down at 299, and my goal is to get between 230-250. I'm doing this to be able to ride coasters w/o any problems.
Last year I hardly was able to fit in a seat on the Beast at PKI. For some reason PTC doesn't make seats on their trains fro big people like me. Because of that I am having a goal to get to that weight I mentioned before SRM so that I can ride in the Legend's new PTC trains and be able to fit in the Raven's PTC seat.

Hey, props to you, bro. Most people have their varying reasons for losing the weight, but be it appearance, health, impressing chicks, fitting in coasters, etc., the end result is still the same. You will be a happier, more active person who will enjoy life a lot more. At least you admit that you were a little on the big side, and are making a commitment to improve yourself. Everyone else should follow your example.

You sound like a typical hypocrite. I'm not a small girl, but I don't look like Shamu either and I am VERY offended by your statement. Yeah sure I'd like to loose some weight, but it isn't as easy as you say. I work out and eat right as best as I can and still haven't lost much weight. You act as though everyone has the same genetic makeup as you and has the same amount of time to work out as you BUT WE DONT. I work full time during the day and go to school full time at night, just tell me when I'm supposed to workout and hour and a half 4 days a week.

Just like your momma said "If you can't say something nice. DON'T SAY IT AT ALL!"

As long as I can fit my "big fat ass" in a coaster seat, shut your skinny mouth up and mind your own business.

perhaps the title should have read "No Big Boy Seats on B&M Flyers." now, lets check the TOS. it doesn't have "what if" or "what do you think," it doesn't have only a coaster or park name in it, it was short, but descriptive, and it gave people a reason to read. yup, I'd definatly perfer that title to the much more crude, " Bad news for fat people on S:UF."

now I'm not really that upset at the title because I know that edh didn't mean anything by it, but I do feel offended by the title and by many of the replies in this thread. I'm not some giant who sit around and does nothing. in fact I'm 6'0" and 190(and that's after my freshman 15) and I'd rather be out with my friends. I have no problem fitting into coasters and I can even take a fat joke or two *if* its done tactfully. however, I've seen an overall lack of tact throughout this whole thread and that worries me. so, instead of continuing this pointless conversation, lets start discussing the matter at hand.

Americana is opening in 2002 and needs your support as many company picnics are already schedualed for someplace else, Indivdual visits are very improtant to the parks survival.

As for polictical correctness on the term Fat, The term fat dosn't bother me. Its if you use it in a derogatory term that gets peoples goats.

Yes, in most cases being fat is rom what you eat, how much you exersize ect. But that is not always the case.

Thyroid problems and genetics play a part in some people weight issues but in many cases a dr.s care can help.

Chuck, who lost 40lbs with drs help and is still Fat :)

SFGA Bob, since when is 6'0 190lbs even close to being "fat", or even all that big? I happen to have the same stats as you and I'm in the best shape of my life. Wow, do we all have to look like Ally Mcbeal???

DWeaver, I know that it may seem like 6' 190 doesn't make a person fat, but it makes me fat. wanna know why? because of genetics. my whole family is like that. not everyone is built the same so the same weight on two different people can easily result in very different looking people.

True, very true. I still don't see how 190lbs on a fairly tall guy can be "fat" anyway you slice it. But I do realize that other factors must be considered, body type ect...
