Bad news for fat people on S:UF??

I think the politically correct term is "Horizontally challenged" :)

Is it a dream or a memory? It's both, it's X

Well sorry, I didnt know you coudnt post the article even if I said what site it was from. I just wanted to make it easier for people. Well the article is here http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_parks_o-z.html.

wow, I was surprisingly pissed by the title of this thread. I'm pretty un-PC, but even I would put that as the title.

That was the first thing that I thought of, so sorry if i affended anyone. I would change it, but when I clicked edit, it didnt let me change the name of it.

It's not "anything" challenged, or even "challenged", BTW.

B&M obviously have some kind of track record when making rides fit the largest number of people, without it being a pain/cost for all others involved. What, should they make the ride accomodate little-bitty kids as well while they're at it?

Not everybody can ride everything. Not being able to do something just makes you want to do it more. It's just how it is......

I just want to follow up about something in this topic. I'm afraid that if you are a large person and realies on a double seatbelt with a slighty larger seat, then there's no way you can ride SUF.

The Problem is, The Restraint will not come down enough and lock properly, Even if it locks, there is a problem where the seat will unlock itself when going into the flying position(Which prevents the train leaving the station) What I'm trying to say is, The Seat wont physiclly unlock and you drop to the floor, but the control system will strangly say its unlocked itself even though it actually hasnt.
Over the 2 days I have been to Alton Towers, I have seen many large people turned away from AIR because they are too big to ride. If in any dought, You should try the test Seat for which I presume B&M will install at SFOG???????(They finally installed one on AIR last saturday)

Big deal if he said fat people, although it would of been better to say "big boned", "heavyset" or something of that kind but it's not like he said bad things about fat people. that is just how he said it.

PaulD: In your opinion from observations of Air, are the "regular" B&M Flier seats the same size as any other B&M regular seat? Or are they even smaller? I don't need the Big Boy seats, but I do need a push from a ride op in a regulat seat.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

Some very large guests have got into the dutchmans. A lot of them were actually surprised because they said they couldn't fit into the impulse.
Yeah, and it doesnt take much to not be able to fit on an Impulse.

Ok, someone help me out here:

I am a big person myself, however, I have never had a problem fitting on any coaster, much less any B&M. On Raptor, I fit in quite nice, the belt had some leeway. Do you think I will still have a problem?

Here's a "big-boy" reference point to perhaps go by... I'm 5'11", 225# and I have ridden S:UE at SFWOA, Chang at SFKK, Raptor at CP, B:TR at SFSTL, and B:KF at SFWOA. I have no idea how "big" big is that would require the actual "big-boy" seats on a B&M but I've never had to have help or had to ask for an extend-a-belt or assitance from a ride op. I've also ridden in various spots on those B&M's too. Just thought I'd throw a reference point in for some of you. (p.s. I know that the impulses aren't made by B&M but I threw that in there anyhow because it was aforementioned) Last summer before my big vacation, I was really worried I wasn't going to fit into S:UE and X-Flight after reading conversation on here so I went on a diet and lost virtually NOTHING at all and Still fit into both coasters with a lot of room to spare.

Since you guys brought up the Impulses, here's a question I've had about the restraints: Are they similar to the drop towers? In other words, would someone who has no problem with the Intamin drop towers (of any geration) have a problem squeezing into an Impulse?

Where are the "big boy" seats usually located at? I'm about 299 lbs. and 6'5" and I do kinda fit in the regular B&M seats, but if there are "big boy" seats on B&Ms then that might be better for me.

big boy seats: to my understanding, its more for the obese(sp?) as opposed to the heavy set but I've never seen one used and I could easily be wrong. I'm sure that if you fit into other B&M coasters that you'll fit fine in a flyer.

Danny: I don't know why I felt so offended when I read the title, but I did. it isn't a big deal because I'm pretty sure that edh didn't mean anything by it, but I still felt offended.

Chris: from my experience, the Impulses are a bit smaller. on the drop towers, I usually like to have the restraint down just enough to buckle it and then pull it down a little more. V2 seemed to have a shorter leash, so to say. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it.

Beastmaster usually the B&M "big boy" seats are located mid train in the middle seats. If you look about the fourth or fifth row back you will see a seat with two buckles on the pulldowns. That is the big boy seat. Why B&M decided to place these seats in the middle of the train and not op for a big|small|big|small scenario for every seat/row is beyond me. Of all of the coasters I have ridden, Volcano TBC is the only train that has this feature. In every row there is one big seat and one regular sized seat. And rarely do I ever see a person in the 250-300 range get turned away from a ride on Volcano. Kudos to Intamin for making life easier for bigger folks who just want to ride.

I love the level of maturity with some people who are posting here. I am 6'6 and 295. I happen to have a 62 inch chest. I have a heck of a time getting into most Beemers . I think that it is a shame another ride I will not be running out to try. I hope they eventually decide to build a car that can handle some one who is not a little person.

Sorry if you don't like big people, but we all have feelings.
