Arrow Shuttle loopers, how are they?

One of my 1st coaster experiences was "Lightning Loops" at SFGAdv. I was pretty young then. Probably about 10, and I can remember the ride like yesterday. Climbing the steps did suck, but hey the ride is way worth it. I thought they should have kept those there. At least the lower one. I am sure that people would still ride them. I know I would. I hate to see parks remove another coaster unless they have no place else to build.

I still have yet to experience a Schwarzkopf shuttle, and they are definately on my list of coasters to ride. Especially this one.

I think that you're right J. Now I have to work at the same place as both of you, so lets just say that I am glad that I'll be leaving in August. I think the only thing I will miss is Sidewinder. :)

SFNE (formerly Riverside) used to have one...it was called The Black Widow. For a long while it was the only looper in New England. A great ride...I still don't know why they ripped it out. A great sensation in both directions. Six Flags ripped it out and put in the Time Warp for the 2000 season- 1999 was the last year. Anyone know where the ride went? Scrap heap or was it moved to another Six Flags park??
It went to Old Indiana in pieces and sat there until last year. It is likely a refrigerator now :(

Well at least SFA still has the old Python sitting behind Batwing, now the big question of what they plan on doing with it remains un-answered as of yet.
The problem with the Arrow Shuttle loops is that Arrow stopped making parts for them a few years ago. The only way for the ones still operating to continue doing so is to use parts from the other defunct shuttle loopers. Therefore, some of these old rides sitting in boneyards or storage lots may have had some of their parts taken to keep the others alive.

Besides the launching mechanism and the ability to have a train go backwards, isnt the rest of the coaster typical Arrow material? Trains, track, etc, seem to be the same.

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

Yeah they are the same. But there are ALOT of moving parts on the things.

Isent the sidewinder the same shuttle looper from kings island?
RCDB says that the Sidewinder was the Roaring Tornado at Magic Springs.

Let's get this straight here. Fun Spot's Arrow shuttle will not be sold any time soon, do not worry about that.

The Zyclon "incident" is no big deal at all, the mid station block brake caught the car and almost made a complete stop. It was set up this way long ago because a ride with a manual brake is always prone to human error, this is the way all of these production models were set up, to make an "incident" such as this something that is insignifigant at best, even if some people like to make a big deal out of it.

Afterburner was not down for an entire day last season. Some people fail to stick around long enough to see the ride open. The ride is scheduled to open late on certain days, signs notify people of this. "Partial Launches" are a daily occurance, not a mistake or problem.

People love to look down on some of the best parks to make others look better, and parks like Fun Spot take the brunt of this.

The ride will abort the launch if it "thinks" that the restraints on the train are not locked. There are six sensors located on the loading side of the station. A reflective tape on the foot pedals on each car is detected. If a pedal is knocked loose or is down, the train will abort half way through the launch. It is common when the operator does double rides and is less common when the operator raises the pedal with their feet (at SFEG the foot pedals are hand pedals during loading). People ALWAYS freak out when the ride aborts but is absolutely no big deal.

Uh serious whiplash is not a big deal? Whatever

It's no worse than being E-braked, as a matter of fact, it happens at a much slower speed. "whatever!"
Now I don't know your whiplash situation, but in my three years experience with a shuttle loop I have never seen or heard of any serious neck injury involving an abort or the basic operation of the ride.
