Arrow looking for merger opportunity

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Arrow is looking for a company to purchase its assets and merge into an existing business. Arrow filed for Chapter 11 in December after losing millions on X at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The company owes $3.8 million. Reverchon, masters of the spinning mouse, and Premier Rides, known for their launched coasters, are interested according to court documents.

Read more from the Salt Lake Tribune.

Hopefully this will work out. It's too bad Arrow couldn't manage their way out of the debt without merger.

On the bright side, Premier seems interested in enhancing their existing rides... who knows if that philosophy would carry over to old Arrow loopers. It's a nice thought, even if it's unlikely.
Yuh, I do hope Premier get's it out of the two. I would be happy with either though.

Yeah I am hoping Premier is the one that acquires Arrow. Keep the company in the US. Imagine a launched 4-D. Plus they need to get out of bankruptsy so they can have those 4-D's built for the 2003 season.

Yeah, if they merged, maybe they would use lap bars insted of the horsecollars and be a little more comfortable

Premier is building up quite a ride lineup. First they got designs after buying TOGO's american offices, now maybe Arrow. I could only hope now that they buy Coasterworks and complete their lineup.

I want to premier to buy out arrow, why, LIM LAUNCHED 4D,(just dreaming here). I really do think that it would be good for arrow if premier can buy em.
Why did they lose millions on X????

Make it to SFNE for S:Ros and BDK!!!!

Well it's better mergeging with somebody else then going being gone forever!!

If there were any 4d's coming in 2003, do you really think they would be in debt still?? I dont think so. Last time I talked to Arrow (mid Feb.) they had not sold any 4ds for 2003. And considering the build time is over 12 months, I doubt they sold any. Most chains including SF want to wait to see how X runs for the 02 season before committing. Also, Arrow had been working on a LIM launch for quite some time now. If Premier buy them out, maybe they could use their LIMs instead.

The reason they lost so much money on X was that when the signed the deal with SFMM, they were responsible for any cost overruns and delay costs. And since they basically had to redesign the trains and do structural re-welds, that is why they went MILLIONS in debt building X.

CoasterGuy, they made estimations on cost that were off, penalties for being late, etc.

Arrow also had to do a lot of rework on X. I was amazed to see how many welds they had to rework.

What? HUSS isn't interested again? This is 1983 all over again......
Damn! I still haven't gotten used to the new logo! Well well well......I take a couple days to enjoy other interests and come back to the buzz to find that my company is turning upside down (pun slightly intended). I'm sure this is a very intelligent decision for them at the moment, given their options. I didn't see this coming though. The name alterations are driving me nuts.

In joining with Morgan, they would have a very special father and son bond! Augh! All the Episode 2 stuff is warping my miniscule brain...."Join me and together we can rule the amusement industry as Bacon and Morgan intended..." LOL.

And considering the build time is over 12 months, I doubt they sold any...

The build time isn't over 12 months. They started building the coaster in about February 2001 and they got it up and running by December. Yeah, it took a long time, but it was not over a year!

Haux: I would assume that build time also includes the time required to design the ride.

Good to hear that Arrow does have some possible projects for 2003. Hopefully a merger will go through so that these possible projects could be built.

an Excerpt from an e-mail from my Arrow rep...

"We have had numerous inquires both in the US and abroad but there is a
wait and see attitude watching X run at Magic Mountain this year. If a park ordered a 4D in the next two months we could possibly build one for 2003.You could be the next 4D for 2004 because the lead time to build
another like X is at least a year and a custom 4D lay out could be 12-15 months depending on options."

They said it, not me...
