that arrow" batwing" looks alot liek the BM cobra roll, but when DF was running well, it sure didnt feel like a BM cobra roll ;)

ride a boomerang - pretty much what an Arrow "Cobra Roll" would've been.
Actually, ride a boomerang with Arrow cars, the track is the same scale, and if they are arrow cars, then that would mean it is basically an arrow cobra roll/boomerang/batwing

Drachen Fire's "batwing" is different than the "batwing" on Arrow's other multiloopers like Viper. Can someone explain to me why they would call two different elements the same name?
Because you're confusing which company calls which element a certain name. First off let's make sure we're talking about the same element.
The element in the left part of this photo, correct?
That's an Arrow Boomerang. B&M calls that element a Batwing on Montu.

I know this is nitpicking, but I don't think Vekoma and Arrow's Cobra Roll-like elements are the same.
See, if you look at a Boomerang (the model, not the element) from the top, it looks a bit like a cone. The two spikes meet at the top, nearly.
Drachenfire's Batwing element, though, was bowed outward at its base.
Granted, I don't know how significant this difference would be while riding, but it is a difference.
For what its worth, I don't recall Drachenfire's batwing as being terribly painful, either. The transition into the mcbr, however, was awful.

That element pictured on that photo was called a Kamakaze Kurve when the first coaster was built with one. Now I belive Arrow Calls it a Boomerang even though I still call it Kamakaze Kurve. Here info on the elements name at http://www.worldsoffun.org/history/1980b.html

Fear The Two: Apollo’s Chariot, which boasts nine drops, totaling 825-feet!while approaching speeds of 75 mph and Alpengeist, the world’s tallest at(195-feet!),fastest approaching (70 mph!)and most twisted inverted roller coaster.
The B&M DF rumor story, which will not die because of silly hang-ups, is one fine example of how heresay & basic making up of things can spread like a wild, raging fire. Ever play the whisper the secret game? Same thing;). It was an Arrow, just like my car is a Honda. Because some guy that designed the Civic may have worked with Mercedes or some other company, would not make my car almost a Mercedes or any wierd stuff like that.......

I've also heard "butterfly" referring to SFOG's Ninja's first two inversions (Vekoma), as well as Tennessee Tornado's final two (Arrow). But I know for sure that:
B&M Batwing = Arrow Boomerang
Vekoma Boomerang = Arrow Batwing = B&M Cobra Roll

Well this thread shows just how silly trying to attach names to different coaster elements can get.
Sawblade5, I have a funny feeling that the term "Kamikaze Kurve" was a phrase coined by the park (World's Of Fun), not the manufacturer (Arrow) - it sounds more exciting and being the first element of it's kind, it probably had no official name at the time.

"If B&M called them officially "Upside-downsy Throat Slicer" would this title stick with the inversion?"
Probably not, but I'm definitely going to start incorporating that phrase into every conversation I have. Seriously, just because B&M names it, doesn't make it the most popular term used. B&M coasters feature "flat spins" and "wingovers" but I rarely hear anyone use those terms. Most people just call them corkscrews.

I hate when people talk about elements on coasters. Why can't ONE element be called by ONE name!
I go by the B&M terms. Why you ask? I dont know, i just decided to. I use these terms: Vertical loops, Cobra Roll (element of DF, Kumba, Raptor), Batwing (element on Top Gun at Carowinds, Montu), Flatspin (this one I call a corkscrew), and Zero-G roll (found on Kumba, most inverts, Dragon Kahn, etc.)
